Aspen Acres Fire Update

We have seen a lot of fear mongering from individuals located outside of Fremont County pertaining to the fire and it's "close proximity to ADX Florence"

I would like to extend to everyone that the fire remains outside of Fremont County, and fire fighters have made good progress in keeping it contained south of Wetmore.

At this time there have been no significant movements of the Aspen Acres Fire towards Fremont County.

All areas of Fremont county that were previously on Mandatory Evacuation have now been Downgraded to Pre Evacuation. The...

At this time, the towns of Williamsburg, Coal creek, and Rockvale are now downgraded back to Pre Evac status.

Southern Fremont County South of Rockvale and Coal creek remain on Mandatory Evacuation.

Highway 67 is currently blocked at CR 100 to southbound traffic unless you are a resident in the evacuation area.

Fremont County, for those of you who just recently watched the press conference on the Aspen Acres Fire, and were looking for an update. I have recently received an update on the distance of the fire from Wetmore.

The fire is still approximately 3-4 miles Southeast from Wetmore.

So we are ok for now, the fire hasn't entered Fremont County.

It appears that winds blowing from the south east will continue to push the smoke from the Aspen Acres Fire towards the cities of Florence, and Cañon City till about 10PM this evening. Make sure to stay indoors and keep windows closed, as the air quality can be poor.
