If you’re reading this, you care about Colorado’s natural resources and protecting our waters while you’re
recreating outdoors. Thank you! With zebra mussel veligers discovered in 2024 on the Colorado River,
and it is our goal is to increase awareness and
compliance with “Clean, Drain, Dry” practices to prevent the spread of aquatic nuisance species (ANS).
We want every recreationists to use new gear-cleaning stations and to take action to help fight the spread of ANS!!

Our River Science class at CCHS wrapped up their course practicum, bringing together everything they’ve learned—from watershed dynamics and river processes to hands-on field techniques and data collection. And they showed up ready!
Out in the field, these students worked like professionals—collecting data, analyzing conditions, and thinking critically about the health of our rivers and watersheds.
This is what it’s all about: building the next generation of river stewards, scientists, and problem-solvers.👏🏽

Protect our rivers, lakes, and reservoirs—it starts with you.

Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) like zebra mussels can spread quickly, damaging ecosystems, clogging infrastructure, and impacting recreation. The good news? Prevention is simple.

Clean, Drain, Dry.

CLEAN off all mud, plants, and debris from your gear, boats, and waders.
DRAIN all water from boats, live wells, and equipment before leaving the area.
DRY everything completely before your next adventure.

A few extra minutes can protect our waterways for generations to come. Let’s all do our part to keep our rivers healthy and thriving.

This Earth Day, we celebrate more than the beauty of our planet—we celebrate the next generation rising to protect. Let today be a reminder that caring for our planet starts now, and it starts with empowering the next generation to love, protect, and restore the rivers that sustain us all.

When you go fishing, there’s more than just a big one on the line. The future of Colorado’s water is in our hands (and on our boots). Be a pain in the ANS and stop aquatic invaders.
