Congratulations to Naomi who not only was accepted to USC’s brand new Bachelor’s to Doctorate in Occupational Therapy path, BUT ALSO was selected for the Trustee Scholarship - a scholarship for the top 100 undergrads from the applicant pool ✨🙌🏽🎉

Why do campers keep coming back year after year? Because the StreetLeaders are thoughtful. Because their passions are igniting passion in the kids. And because there’s always something new to discover at UPLA.

Naomi knew she was college bound since we met her. She carefully explored her options (starting with StreetLeader college visits her sophomore year) and was crystal clear on what she wanted to study - Occupational Therapy. She worked hard this year going after the schools and scholarships that would make her dream come true - and it PAID OFF. She swept the board and got into EVERY SCHOOL she applied to, including USC’s Early Action 🎉

How have our StreetLeaders grown this school year? ❤️

In so many ways.

Hear from Cassie, a high school junior, who shares how UrbanPromise Los Angeles helped her grow in self-advocacy and expressing her feelings with confidence.

The leaders who rise to the top of candidate pools are often the ones who know how to communicate well, take initiative, navigate challenges, and work with others with maturity and empathy. Cassie is putting in the work to build those skills now, while also pouring back into the next generation of kids in her community.

We’re so proud of the leader she’s becoming.

Celebrating our StreetLeader starting lineup from AfterSchool 25-26….

⭐️Nataly - fearless, really bloomed in her own leadership and excellence this year, everytime we pushed her to try something new she did it, takes challenging situations head on
⭐️Jocelyn - future teacher! She leaned into her authority this year - took the leadership lessons she learned and applied them not just at UPLA, but also in her role as Softball Captain
⭐️Joely - commitment is her superpower, she’s mentored this entire team in the UPLA way (even those older than her) and recruited half of them!
⭐️Cassie - let the opportunity transform her - she thinks deeply, always has something great to share, leaned in hard to StreetLeader trainings and is most likely to be laughing
⭐️Abby - joined at the very start of the school year, put in so much work to make options special and memorable and is so compassionate to kids - giving big sis energy
⭐️Rio - the backbone making it run this year - showed up DAILY servant leadership on 💯, elite lesson prep and awareness of what needs to be done next, restoration queen & K-BBQ chef
⭐️Quzeem - new recruit, splashing on the scene with jokes and a willing attitude, we’re excited to see his leadership come to life this summer at camp!

Next stop - the series championship aka SUMMER CAMP 🎉🙌🏽✨
