ACE - Alliance for Community Empowerment Alliance for Community Empowerment (ACE) offers development services through its RUTH YouthBuild, SECTOR, GRYD, and Parenting programs. All programming is free.

Alliance for Community Empowerment (ACE) empowers San Fernando Valley residents to overcome systemic barriers by providing education, workforce development, housing, behavioral health, violence intervention/prevention, supportive services, and advocacy. YouthBuild provides an opportunity for youth ages 16-24 to earn their high school diploma, receive job training, and develop leadership skills. GR

YD provides an opportunity for youth ages 14-25 who have been affected by gangs to receive the support, personal development and mentorship needed to grow in a positive and thriving manner. ACE also offers vocational training in Construction. ACE works closely with our local high schools, probation department, and other community agencies in supporting alternative programming for students. ACE along with our community partners are able to provide intensive counseling, referrals for supportive services, substance abuse, gang intervention, and anger management classes in a small, supportive, and safe environment.

We are so excited and honored to be an official provider of the Los Angeles County Justice, Care and Opportunities Department Care Management (JCM) program!

JCM is an intensive, person-centered care management program for justice-involved individuals seeking coordinated support. Every eligible participant receives a dedicated care manager to help navigate resources that support their mental, physical, and social wellness. From scheduling doctor’s appointments to helping secure stable housing, this program ensures every participant has an integrated care plan that covers all of their needs.

We had such a beautiful time celebrating the back to school season at our YEZ Family Social! We welcomed participants and their families for a night of food and fun activities to get back into the school spirit. Our Youth Empowerment Zone (YEZ) is a free program that was created to empower youth between the ages of 10-15 in the San Fernando Valley through personal mentorship, engaging field trips (Universal Studios is a favorite), after-school programming, supportive services, and family case management.

We are unbelievably grateful to the Department Of Labor for supporting us in carrying out our work at RUTH YouthBuild for a fourth year in a row! Grants like this keep our doors open and allow us to invest in the youth of our community more deeply. We look forward to expanding our vocational training opportunities and providing more comprehensive support to help our students earn their high school diplomas, prep for post-secondary education, and secure stable employment.

Earning this grant is a testament to all the hard work, passion, and dedication that goes into RUTH YouthBuild. To all our students, alumni, staff, and community advocates - thank you for showing up and pouring your heart into this program. RUTH YouthBuild was born 13 years ago, and it’s truly taken a village to get to where we are now. We’re so proud to still be here in the neighborhood we call home. We’ve been through many seasons and countless challenges, but moments like this remind us that this work is valued and supported.

Huge thank you to Sheet Metal Workers (SMART) Local 105 (Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 105 Union) for giving our MC3 participants a union tour to learn more about the Local 105 apprenticeship! 👷🏽

We loved hearing about the different specialities and job options within the Sheet Metal Industry, especially with the constant increase in new types of construction and materials. There’s never been a better time to secure employment within this growing industry.

Our MC3 program is a 240-hour training program designed to support individuals who have been impacted by the justice system by teaching them the skills and experiences they need to acquire an apprenticeship in the construction industry. This union tour was just one of the many ways our program sets individuals up for success by showcasing different career avenues and creating opportunities to network.

Your grief was never meant to be carried alone. If you’re searching for an open and welcoming space to talk, listen, and process your grief in community, please join our free virtual Grief Support Group starting on October 1st. 🧡

This 8-week-long group will be held every Friday from 4:00-5:00pm via Zoom. While we acknowledge grief comes in countless forms, this group will be for those who have experienced the death of a loved one.

In the words of bell hooks, “Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.”

Our grief is meant to be witnessed, held, and honored by those around us. If you’ve been searching for a space to express your emotions and experiences, this group is for you. 🙏

Meet Andrew Morales, a RUTH YouthBuild graduate who is now a student at Pierce College studying to get his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He’s working towards one day owning his own construction business, a dream that was born while enrolled at RUTH YouthBuild. After attending high schools that failed to provide the support and opportunities he needed to thrive, he found a community at RUTH YouthBuild that truly saw his potential and deeply fostered his growth.
