Located on the south shore of the Byllesby Reservoir, three miles west of Cannon Falls. The reservation is 450 acres of rolling fields, wooded campsites and hills overlooking the Cannon River valley. Phillippo features nine winterized cabins, a 48 person conference center, campsites, cross country ski trails, lighted snow tube hill, canoes, and a modern 400-person dining hall. rvation is well suited for weekend tent camping, winter cabin camping, unit camping and summer activities. Camp Akela is a weekend program for Tigers, Wolfs, Bears and 1st year Webelos. Cub Scout Resident Camp is an opportunity for Cub Scouts and their adult leadership to spend quality time together working on advancement, enjoying recreational activities, and learning about camping. Campers sleep in two person canvas tents that are supplied by the camp. Activities at Camp Akela have included archery, bb-gun target shooting, swimming in a pool, boating, crafts, nature, and games. Polar Cubs is a winter day camp where Cubs and Webelos experience all that winter has to offer as they are guided by our experienced staff. Activities have included snow-tubing, broomball, obstacle course, winter nature activities, crafts, snowshoeing, capture the flag, and snow golf. A hot lunch is provided in the camp dining hall for everyone. Scouts and parents will learn how to keep warm and stay dry in the snow and cold.

As our Staff finishes packing up our Polar Cubs program. We wanted to recognize you our participants. We want to recognize you for sledding with us, for playing mushroom ball with us and helping us find Togo. We realize now that maybe we need to keep that dog on a leash. 😂

We hope to see you at Summer camp or in 2027 for our next Polar Cubs season.

If you’re going to be heading to Polar Cubs tomorrow. You may want to leave a little earlier the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather advisory for the area around Camp.

The advisory is from 6 AM to 6 PM tomorrow calling for 2 to 4 inches of snow.

Ever wondered who to contact to edit your building or campsite reservation? 🤔
You're not alone, it's a great question we get asked a lot!

The short answer: you'll want to get in touch with our Reservations Department. While our friendly Ranger staff can help with adding charges for amenities or fees, they aren't able to cancel or change reservation dates or add/remove buildings. So, if your group needs to adjust their reservation or can't make it to camp, please reach out to:

Calling all recent Gwin Center campers!

🕵️‍♂️ We've had a bit of a mystery unfold in our kitchen – our trusty coffee urn/percolator seems to have gone on an unexpected adventure!

We understand that sometimes things get mixed up when packing, and it's possible it may have accidentally made its way home with one of our wonderful groups. We work hard to keep our kitchen stocked for everyone to enjoy, and we'd love to get our coffee maker back so future campers can brew up some delicious mornings!

If you've recently stayed with us, please take a moment to double-check your belongings. We appreciate your help in solving this Gwin Center mystery!

We have some good news and some "Mother Nature" news for our visitors this weekend!

✅ The Polar Cubs are in luck! We have just enough of the white stuff in their area to run the normal program as scheduled. We can’t wait to see our youngest adventurers out there!

⚠️ The Rest of Camp: Unfortunately, the snow didn't fall quite as heavily elsewhere. We didn't hit the minimum 3 inches required for snowshoeing and sledding near the Dining Hall. As a result, those specific activities will not be available this weekend.

We are still looking forward to a great weekend at camp! See you soon!
