Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Second Annual Headlock on Hunger National Championships yesterday at the Ramsey Center on Wester Carolina University. Special thanks to all the volunteers, officials, and sponsors who made this event a tremendous success. Nearly 300 wresters representing ten states were competing yesterday and all the food collected will go to the food pantry at Cherokee High School

Congratulations to Kaine Powell of RS Central High School and Chase Gillis of Tuscola High School the two recipients of the 2024 Rex Wells scholarship award for leadership in public service. The scholarships were awarded the day before Thanksgiving at the jet headlock on hunger invitational championships at Enka High School.

Congratulations to Fred T. Foard High School of Hickory, NC for winning the Batle of the Belt and receiving the inaugural "Brisco Belt" given in Memory of former NCAA and two-time World Heavyweight Champion Jack Brisco and in honor of former world junior heavyweight champion and two-time NCAA National Championship team member Gerald Brisco. They collected 3,987 pound of food to provide more than 1,300 meals to students while away from school.

A great many thanks to Coach Mark Harris and the amazing staff, teams, volunteers, and fans who participated in this year's Jet / Headlock on Hunger Invitational the day before thanksgiving. Nearly 14,000 pounds of food was raised for students in the Enka Candler community which will provide more than 9,300 meals.
