The FFA Program at Canby is at RISK!!
We all know that FFA gives our students lifelong leadership and job skills that will give them an upper hand when entering the workforce.
If the Canby School Levy does not pass, we will see a huge difference in our school systems as a whole, but most importantly the district WILL be cutting Career Technical Education programs, some in their entirety. Students who take CTE courses have a 99% graduation rate.
Without this levy our schools are going to see across the board cuts in everything, teachers (larger class sizes, 40+ middle and high/30+ K-6), counselors, reading specialist, sports, music, art, CTE, administrators, nothing will go untouched. As a reminder, we are facing a $6.3 million dollar deficit (approx. 60 staff cuts), after right-sizing with a $7 million dollar deficit last year (over 70 staff cuts). Collectively these two years of cuts represent an overwhelming decrease of adults in our schools (approximately 24% reduction in staff over 2 years) and will have significantly negative impacts on our schools and our community as a whole.
The Canby FFA Alumni has chosen to endorse the Levy - but will you?
Today, March 18th, is the last day to submit the Statement of Endorsement form! If you live in the Canby School District, please consider filling out the following form.
Our Alumni President Marc Anderson is willing to take questions and support with getting your signed form to the proper place. Send him an email [email protected] or call 503-710-6136.
