April Meeting - Monday the 13th

The April meeting will be held Monday the 13th, 7-9pm at the Cornell Cooperative Extension, 480 N. Main St. Canandaigua, NY 14424.

Happy spring… and winter! If you’ve been outside lately, you know it’s been a bit of both—but the bees are staying busy and bringing in lots of that bright yellow pollen. A sure sign that things are starting to ramp up!

We’re looking forward to seeing you this Monday for another great meeting. Here’s what we have lined up:

-Mark will share his secrets to producing beautiful comb honey
-We’ll have a group discussion on requeening hives, a timely topic suggested by Scott H.
-Ken and Luann will (finally!) walk us through their beekeeping journey

Field Days are back!
Our first Field Day will be May 9 (Rain Date May 16)
Location: Mark Fiegl’s House
5550 Eddy Ridge Rd., Marion, NY 14505

Schedule:
11:00 AM – Meet & Greet / Social Hour
12:00 Noon – Lunch
1:00-ish – Discussion and Hive Time

Details:
-Hots, hamburgers, rolls, condiments, and water will be provided by Mark
-Feel free to bring a dish to pass (completely optional!)
-You must wear at least a veil
-Gloves will be provided
-Bring your lawn chair

As always, bring your questions, observations, and anything you’d like to share—these conversations are some of the most valuable parts of our meetings.

Club member Petra Hafker will be leading a casual discussion on bees on April19th following the screening of the new National Geographic 2-episode "Secret of the Bees" docu-series. It will be at the Dove Art Block community art center in Geneva at 1pm. 🐝

This class is now live! It will be hosted via Zoom on February 7th at 11am EST. A confirmation email will be sent from ECWID.

❄️ Class Update ❄️
Due to the winter storm and for everyone’s safety, our first beekeeping class has been canceled.

We’re disappointed to delay getting started, but safety comes first. We’ll begin next Monday, February 2.

On the bright side, this gives anyone who was on the fence another week to register. We’d love to have you join us.
