🎃 We’re getting ready for Halloween!

At our recent lunch meeting, members packed 1,700 candy bags. Our elementary school K-Kids and middle school Builders Club students will assemble another 600—that’s 2,300 bags of Halloween treats. 🍬

Come see us Saturday, October 24, at our booths at Outhouse Park and in downtown Canandaigua. Our Key Club students will join us at the Main Street location with temporary tattoos.

We look forward to celebrating with you. 👻

We had the pleasure of visiting Girl Scout Troop 60165 this past Sunday to present a check from our Community Service Committee!

When the troop visited our Kiwanis meeting in August, the girls shared their Silver Award projects. One project created coloring and activity books to help children feel less afraid of visits to the doctor or dentist. The other brought a pollinator garden to Ferris Hills.

Their thoughtfulness and initiative inspired us, and we’re proud to support their continued work. These girls are already leaders among their peers—and perhaps future Kiwanians, too! 💙

Last week, we had the pleasure of hearing from Girl Scout Troop 60165! After earning the Bronze Award, these inspiring Girl Scouts are now working toward the Silver Award—the second-highest honor in Girl Scouts.

As part of the process, they identified community challenges and developed thoughtful solutions. One group created a coloring and activity book to help ease children’s stress and fear during medical and dental visits. Another researched the decline in pollinator populations and planted a perennial garden at Ferris Hills to attract bees, butterflies, birds, and other important pollinators.

We’re inspired by their creativity, teamwork, and commitment to serving their community—and we can’t wait to see where their next adventure takes them!

The Paints & Rec mural project wrapped up six weeks of summer camp last week with a spectacular grand reveal at the Greater Canandaigua Civic Center! The young artists brought their ideas to life and created something that will be enjoyed by the community for years to come.

We were proud to support this wonderful camp with a $5,000 Kiwanis Foundation grant. We love seeing our support make opportunities like this possible for local youth.

Congratulations to all of the young artists, camp leaders, and everyone who helped make this project such a success!

The Kiwanis Club of Canandaigua recently welcomed Liz Searle from Literacy Volunteers Ontario - Yates, Inc. (LVOY). Liz shared LVOY’s mission to provide adults with the literacy skills they need to reach their full potential as individuals, parents, workers, and citizens.

We also heard from Kiwanian Terri Silverman, who shared her meaningful experience over the past few years working with a client from Ukraine. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the impact literacy support can have in our community and beyond. We’re excited to invite everyone to our annual Kiwanis Club of Canandaigua golf tournament on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Winged Pheasant Golf Links in Shortsville.
It’s always a great day of golf, prizes, and community — and best of all, 100% of the proceeds stay local, supporting kids and families through programs like scholarships, Kamp Kiwanis, Safe Harbors of the Finger Lakes, Golisano Children’s Hospital, and more.
Scan the QR code below to sign up, sponsor, or learn more. Every golfer and sponsor truly makes a difference, and we’d love to see you out on the course with us!
Thanks for supporting what we do 💙
