Since Day 1 of the Trump Administration, the Trans community has been hit over and over again with vicious Executive Orders that challenge everything from their right to serve in the military, to ability to receive life-saving care, to questioning their very existence. While organizations and Attorney Generals from across the nation bring the legality and constitutionality of these actions to Federal Justices for intervention, the consequences of the hateful rhetoric spewing from our highest offices is parroted by the masses and puts the lives of every single Trans community member in more and more danger every day. This week alone, the murders of both Tahiry Broom and Sam Nordquist hit the news and an already hurting community.

After months and months of work and planning it is Blaque/OUT Magazine's honor to announce... on the 1st day of the month that we recognize the 25th Anniversary of Trans Day of Remembrance, Trans Awareness Week and just days before we Q***r the Vote, the Blaque/OUT T.R.A.I.I. (Trans Remembrance Archive and Information Index).

Blaque/OUT worked with the incredible folks at GIS Scholars, Inc. to create a tool that merges geospatial technology with the data about every single known person of the Trans, NB and GNC/GE communities that have lost their lives to an act of violence since 2018. This tool is FREE, open to any and every individual and organization and will allow you to layer factors like victimology, region, gender identity etc on a map and have a map-based visual of who each one of these people was, where they were located and details of their cases.

It is our hope that the T.R.A.I.I. will help groups and orgs to better lobby for funding, investigators better and faster spot patterns while also keeping the names of our lost sibs alive. The data exists but its never been presented like this. We are honored to remember and say the names of every victim but we are also TIRED OF IT. This is year Blaque/OUT wanted to help create change and if T.R.A.I.I. saves one life, it was worth it.

Visit the Blaque/OUT website to see and start using the tool and story maps: https://www.blaqueout.com/traii (most functionality from computer & web versions) or the November issue of Blaque/OUT for more information about the history and tech behind the tool: https://issuu.com/blaqueoutmag/docs/blaqueout_magazine_nov._2024?fr=xKAE9_zU1NQ

Thank you to our partners at GIS Scholars Inc., support from Eileen Amy Ryan and Tee Douglas, last minute assist from E.C. Pizarro II and to the heart and soul of Blaque/OUT, E.L. Winston.

First of all, Happy Black History Month, where Blaque/OUT Magazine celebrates the Black Q***r History we are built on and the folks making Black Q***r History today and TOMORROW!

In our February issue, we also celebrate the 4th Coverversary of our friends at Next Generation Men Of Transition. Four years ago, the gentlemen of NGMT led by Brittan Hardgers were featured as the 1st ever All Black & Brown Trans Masc organization on a national publication cover. The Empty Closet, which was at the time, the longest continuously published LGBTQ+ publication in the nation, was under the leadership of its first Black Editor, Tamara Leigh. It had been her mission and vision to ensure that more diversity was reflected in the EC pages and so her very first cover depicted Black & Brown Trans Feminine women in February of 2019. To celebrate the anniversary of that 1st cover, which marked a change for the EC as well as the agency that produced it, Leigh invited NGMT to be the February 2020 cover as a symbol of Black Q***r HIstory for Black History Month.

Tamara went on to create Blaque/OUT Magazine later that year and this month, we celebrate Black History Month, the 40th issue of Blaque/OUT Magazine, the evolution of to a national organization and its founder, Brittan Hardgers who is now the Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement at . Read about some of the NGMT members and take a look at the collection of shots from their amazing photoshoot with Davis in Rochester, New York.

But BEFORE YOU LEAVE, make sure you watch the AMAZING interview with of POSE, (we LOVE him here at Blaque/OUT!!) the 1st in a series of articles about our experience at Creating Change Conference in NOLA last month, our recognition of Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day on the 7th and all of the Blaque/OUT columns and columnists that you LUV and wait for each & every month.

See all that and more in the full issue of the February 2024 Blaque/OUT Magazine: https://issuu.com/blaqueoutmag/docs/blaqueout_magazine_feb_2024_1_?fr=xKAE9_zU1NQ

The August 2023 Blaque/OUT Magazine, we present this amazing photographic editorial series that pays homage to two icons of the movement. Read cover to cover to meet the models, see the photos and celebrate the lives of the late great Marsha P. Johnson & Sylvia Rivera as imagined by photographers .ny & Tamara Leigh with the interpretation of our legends by Nicole Taylor Monet (Our Marsha) and (Our Sylvia)
"While most of the world finishes their celebrations of Pride, Blaque/OUT is taking a moment to pay homage to two of the women by whose sacrifice & fearlessness saved countless lives & gave us the ability to celebrate Pride at all. Our photographers recreated some of the most iconic shots of Marsha P. Johnson & Sylvia Rivera as they fought for OUR lives. The original images were caught in the middle of a NYC based fight for liberation. The Blaque/OUT images were taken at the foreground of Trans rights in 2023... the State of Florida."

Happy Birthday to our ICONS, Sylvia (July 2nd) & Marsha (Aug 24th). Don't miss a single page of the content from our Blaque/Out writers that you know and love! And thank you to Jay & Nicole for helping us bring our summer vision to life!
