Honoring B-Rock Johnson through community enrichment & random acts of kindness.

https://linktr.ee/brockstrong We are a non-profit that primarily supports the community, travel baseball and Nationwide Children's Hospital. Here is a little about Brock. Brock (B-Rock) Johnson was an amazing, courageous, smart, funny, sweet yet fiercely c

ompetitive kid. B-Rock battled an unknown auto-immune disease since he was 5 days old. On the outside you could not tell he had anything going on with his health. He went to school and got straight A’s his whole school career, played soccer, basketball, football and travel baseball. B-Rock excelled at everything he did. He was involved in his church youth group, worked in the kids’ ministry classes and was a member of the anti-bullying club at school. On the inside he had weekly and monthly infusions, blood transfusions, injections, doctor appointments, surgeries, hospital stays and traveled once a month to the National Institute of Health in Maryland. Despite all of B-Rock’s trials, he still lived life to the fullest. Thinking of some of the things he did in his 14 years… Parasail, swim with dolphins, climb Dunn’s River Falls, swim with stingrays, go on 2 cruises, Disney 3 times, NYC, DC, Universal Studios (Harry Potter Land), the beach several times, play in the Cal Ripken baseball tournament twice, have lunch with Jay Bruce, hang out with the Cincinnati Reds (Brandon Phillips his fav), go zip lining, hang out at Buckeye Men’s basketball practice several times (and shoot some 3 pointers), have amazing seats for a few Buckeye Basketball games, go to Hollywood, have lunch at Robert Downey Jr’s house, walk the red carpet for the Avengers movie premiere in Hollywood, meet all of the Marvel stars, face time regularly with Robert Downey Jr, throw out the first pitch at a Clippers game, visit several MLB parks, go to a few Colts games, be a star at a Make A Wish baseball tournament and the Make A Wish Grand Gala, ride roller coasters, play baseball, basketball, football and soccer, be a part of the coaching staff for football Fri nights in Canal, go to youth camp, and I am sure the list could go on and on… Loved his attitude. You never knew he was β€œsick”. Everyone who met B-Rock remembered him. Whether it for his β€œold soul” personality, his smile, giggle or 110% effort in sports. B-Rock and his family knew a bone marrow transplant was always a possibility. Having an unknown condition, the doctors felt that would be his best bet. To β€œre-set” his immune system. The procedure was put off for years because with his quality of life being so good, the benefits did not outweigh the risks. In 2014 his liver was having some problems and he had a surgery to stabilize it in order to be eligible for the bone marrow transplant. The doctors had all agreed it was time. In Sept. 2014, B-Rock had a bone marrow transplant. The actual transplant period went well but the biggest risk is infection after the transplant. A long hard road, B-Rock stood strong, a demonstration of faith, courage and a light to the world. Brock made a positive impact on everyone he met. He rounded third and headed for home after a fungal infection moved into his lungs on May 20, 2015.

Congratulations to Makaelyn Hale for winning the CWMS Brock Johnson Resilience Award! πŸ†

The Brock Johnson Resilience Award is an annual award given to one CWMS 8th grade student based on teacher recommendations. The criteria is tough & requires that nominees are kind when they don't have to be, leaders among their peers even when it's tough, determined to persevere through obstacles, & many other Brock-like qualities. Makaelyn embodies all of these qualities & more, and we could not be more proud of her. Thank you to Canal Wi******er Schools for continuing to honor Brock & his legacy πŸ’š

Congratulations, Makaelyn, & thank you for being a clear picture of what it means to be BROCKSTRONG πŸ’š

11 years without you is far too long, and 14 with you wasn’t nearly long enough.

When you saw his swollen cheeks, jaundice & multiple IV lines, you knew Brock was sick. You could see what his body was going through.
But the second he talked to you, you would have never guessed. His spirit never matched his circumstances.
He still laughed, still cared about others, still kept tabs on his favorite sports teams, still made people his priority. That was Brock - even on his hardest days, he refused to become his disease.
Brock underwent a bone marrow transplant in September of 2014. No one saw it coming, but he would be left with just 8 months to live after contracting an infection.
His unknown autoimmune disease ultimately took his life, but his spirit never wavered - steady, strong, kind, bright, & impossible to forget.

Jeremiah 29:11 β€œFor I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

We miss you, ones. πŸ’šπŸ•ŠοΈ

This Wednesday will be 11 years since our world grew a bit dimmer.
If Brock were to have survived his disease & been able to walk away with all that it taught him, we think it would go a little like this. πŸ’š
Go into this week with Brock on your heart & do something to honor him. πŸ•ŠοΈ

Join us today in celebrating an amazing board member's birthday!

Victor is a jack of all trades & the man who truly does it all - after becoming Brock's neighbor in 2010, the Paini & Johnson families became extremely close & have poured heart + soul into serving this community together for nearly two decades. In his role as a BrockStrong Foundation board member, Victor ensures that funds are managed appropriately, connects with with community members & leaders to form partnerships with the foundation, & manages to make it to just about every BrockStrong event out there. His awesome wife, Tiffani, is heavily involved in our Room Makeovers & Green Tie Events, and both of their children are actively involved in volunteering for us πŸ’š

On top of his crucial roles in the foundation's success, Victor also manages to lead his home, workplace & Canal Wi******er youth. His family describes him as a family first, God loving man. He loves Disney, Kenny Chesney, & serving his community. Tiffani openly admits that he is the fun parent 🀣 and is always down for a spontaneous trip if it means supporting one of their interests, even if it's a 24-hour trip to Disney just to see the fireworks with his wife πŸŽ†

Alongside serving his family, Victor serves a critical role and is highly successful in his career at META. You may also see him on the sidelines, serving as Head Coach of the Canal Wi******er Lacrosse Team! πŸ₯
Thank you, Victor, for all that you do for the BrockStrong Foundation. We hope you feel as celebrated as you deserve to today -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! πŸŽ‰πŸ’šπŸŽ‰
