This evening, we extend our deepest condolences to the Maine fire service following the tragic loss of a firefighter in the line of duty at today’s incident in Searsmont.

Our thoughts remain with all firefighters, EMS personnel, families, friends, and community members impacted by this tragedy, as well as the medical teams caring for those who were injured.

The fire service is one family, and tonight we stand beside our brothers and sisters in Maine.

Come join us for a weekend of fun and show your support.

Last weekend we had our annual Association dinner and awards ceremony. Retirees and members were present for a potluck dinner supplied by the members. This year 3 members were recognized for their extra work above and beyond normal duty and time over the past year. AEMT Bryan Howe, Assistant Chief Hue Wetherbee and Captain EMT Matthew Jordan. Also recognized for extra time and duty were Assistant Chief Stephen Kulacz, Terri Kulacz and Estelle Howe. Chief Chris Olsen also recognized 3 Department members for their recent promotions. Firefighter Jim Cole promoted to Lieutenant, Lieutenant Mark Wilson to Captain and Lieutenant Matthew Jordan to Captain. Congratulations to all members for outstanding work over the past year and looking forward to our future work in the community and the Department. Also in attendance was our longest standing member at 63 years Earl Smith.
