Hey All. So we just got back from a trip to our trails in the hills. Sable mountain and that area. And I am very glad we did this as it helped make this decision

All the trails that are already marked closed will remain closed.

Trail 105 from ex 7 to almost ex 105 is VERY BONY!! Down to gravel and after Mondays rain will probably be closed.

Ex 105 to 104 to 103 ,which is trail 97 b is wonderful. Mostly flat and plenty of snow for a great ride

Ex 100 to 103 to 102 to 101 , trail 97 and 97a are also very nice riding. 4-5 inches of fresh snow on top

Ex 101 to ex112 is very nice , some snow melt on the sunny hills and a couple of water bars are starting to open up. A few places the water bars are 1/2 way across the trails but safe to go slow and get by them.

Ex 112 to ex 502, trail 96 is ok but in the middle section that goes up and through the tight wooded section has several water bars opening and is a bit bony as well. Caution should be taken through there

Ex502 to ex 102 trail 97 is wonderful with only a couple water bars starting to melt and show

East branch we did not ride but I’m told it is in great shape as well.

Ex 10 to ex 105 is getting bony and wet.

So you have riding. Some of it really good. You just have to use that common sense the good lord gave ya and take it easy

We saw maybe 20-25 sleds out there today having a great time Everybody was smiles and thumbs up and stopped to say hi and tell us what they had come across on the trail. We even had one pretty lady that wanted to ride in our sxs. Of course I’m pretty sure it was the side by side that caught her eye and not Billy and I. Haha.

As most of you know we had an incident with our Tucker yesterday. Glare ice on a very steep trail with a substantial drop off on the edge ended our thoughts of sending the groomer out last night. Now I’m glad we didn’t make it out as the ride from town to the good trails is far too long and lack of snow could possibly damage the equipment. Honestly just not worth it especially with the warm up and rain coming in Monday.

In town is closed. I closed gates all the way into town. Please follow the vast app posts and don’t come into town …. A few did today 😡

That’s it. I have to say The Border Riders trails were amazing this year. The unfortunate melt down was fast and furious . You never know we might get another dumping and be back at it !!!

Don’t forget to go to the vast app and vote for the CBR best groomed trails of 2026. You know it’s true and my guys have earned it !!❄️🤍

Hey everyone. I will be going out on our upper trails in the morning to see with my own eyes what we have to offer. I was told there’s still snow in the elevations but the water bars are open as well. I will do an update right when I get back hopefully by noon -1:00.

If you go out please be carful , go slow and watch for obstacles in the trail.

Remember the intown trails are closed and mostly dirt !

Thank you

Hey everybody!!

Canaan Border Riders are closing their in town trails.

There is far too much grass showing through and I can’t have our landowners upset with us !!

So as of right now all in town trails are
CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!!

Hell of a season though. And we will be out grooming a few more times so you can enjoy all of our trails up in the hills which are still outstanding !!!

Thank you

Trail Report … meltdown 2026

We have down graded our intown trails to cautionary. Expect bare patches and ice as most of the snow is gone.

Hard to believe right !!

But if and when it gets cold enough and hopefully we get another storm we will be back at it.

I’m going to take a ride in the baby groomer tomorrow night and see how the trails look up in the hills and-give you a good report. Right now I’d say stick to the hills if your going out If you don’t have to go out the more we let the trails sit without traffic the better they will be when we do get to groom for the weekend

Either way be safe and we can still do a little snow dancing …. It is only March
9th for god sakes !!!!

Attention snowmobilers !!!

There was a sled on fire on trail 103 between Canaan hill road and ex 4. The fire dept put the sled out and moved it off to the side of the trail. But it melted a hole in the middle of the trail. Be very careful in that area. Once it cools off enough to go back out grooming we will fill in the hole. Until then please be careful !!!!
Thank you

In other news …..

The Canaan Border Riders are regrettably cancelling their trail side picnic this coming Saturday due to the rain that is forecasted.

Sucks but Mother Nature gives …. What a great year ..
….. and Mother Nature takes away …

If we can do it another weekend before the season ends we will give as much notice as possible ☹️

Well didn’t we have a great Wednesday!

Yesterday The Canaan Border Riders in conjunction with The Northeast Kingdom Snow Blasters and The Brighton Snowmobile Club gave Governor Phill Scott a “ perfect day from start to finish “

I was contacted by the Governor’s people to come up with a route for his ride from Island Pond to Canaan and then back again

With the help of John Hull, President of NEKSB and Chris Roese, President of TBSC we came up with a route that showcased all 3 clubs trail system and made sure the trip over and the trip back were on different trails as much as possible

With the help of and instructions from Amanda Wheeler the route was set and I was told the times Governor Scott had to be at each stop Amanda had planned.

We were Joined by Ericka Scott , the Governors daughter , a few very involved club volunteers to help along the way , Vermont State police , Fish and Wildlife Officers and a few of Governor Scott’s inner circle! I think 27 sleds all together

We left Island pond with Chris leading the way and had a great early ride on mostly untouched trails When we got to NEKSB trails John took the lead and again on flawless trails brought us to The Border Riders trails where I took over. In case anybody’s wondering Governor Scott can ride quite well when pushed. Lol.

When we arrived in Canaan Jen and Dave of The Time Out Tavern had offered to open up early , put out a great spread of Donuts, Muffins and more and give the riders a place to have a light snack and to stage while the Governor went over to The Canaan School for a tour of the school.

After his tour and after his visit to meet Dave and Jen and thank them for hosting us we left for Aprils Maple to tap a few trees.

The Governor and his daughter led the way into Aprils to the waiting press and local observers.

April and Sage , the owners of Aprils Maple and their wonderful staff put on a very nice buffet showcasing the maple influences used to enhance their menu. They also had Sunshine handing out yummy maple creemys !!!

Governor Scott tapped a tree and spent time answering questions and enjoying his time with all in attendance.

I had to drag him out when it was time to saddle up once again and head back to IP.

We had a great ride back, passing a CBR groomer out making the trails perfect for our ride along with a quick stop at the over look for a little chat and a few pictures.

We arrived in IP to finish our trip , a little over 90 miles and were welcomed to a fish fry while the Governor tried some ice fishing .

I have to say that fried fish sandwich was outstanding. Great batter and perfectly fried !!!

What a day

Thank you John and Chris for joining in and helping me pull this off. The 3 clubs worked very well together. We should do this again !!

Thanks to Joe, Billy and Dana for helping and riding drag the entire trip to make sure nobody fell back or got lost

Thanks to Krista , my ride or die … it wouldn’t have been as much fun without you there and it was good to know we had an RN on duty just in case

And a Special Thanks to Governor Phill Scott

Just for being cool and normal and making this day
“ A perfect day from start to finish “.

Hey all.

Quick reminder.

The Canaan Border Riders are once again having their trail side rider appreciation cook out on March 7.

Not a fund raiser. Nothing fancy. Just a good old fashion trail side cook out

We will start cooking at 11 and end when we end I’d say. Id think 2 or 3

Located the same spot as we ended up lasts year at EX 19 on trail 105

So bring the crew , the kids , the wife or your buddy and come grab a burger , a dog and some chili or soup

Let’s hope it’s a little warmer this year

Until then

Be safe , enjoy the trail and keep smiling !!!😊

Hey All !!

So once again we need a trail report I’m told.
Quite frankly our trails and honestly all of our neighbors trails are freakin amazing!!
Stephen and Pat have been out all week making our trails perfect. Pat loves the new all American 🇺🇸 Tucker/Trail paver combo and Krista and I will be out there tonight touching up the trails for your Sunday ride

So go ride. The weather is going to be great today. Enjoy while you can you all know how quick it can go to ….. you get it !!

Don’t forget to stop at the Blaster Barn for the NEKSB Blaster Bash. Always a good time hanging out with that crew. We’re going for sure !!

Also. Please be careful. Don’t forget to stay together with your group , drive within your means , and be safe.

Too many accidents and loved ones hurt or lost this year. Some things you can’t control we all know that but if you can just think about going home to your loved ones at the end of your day ♥️

Enjoy , Be Safe and Have fun !!!❄️

Please be carful and allow the equipment the right of way

Hey All. So we finnaly got the truck off the trail. Groomer Pat met us with the Tucker and we winched and then pulled that truck right up the hill. That Tucker has some power I’ll tell ya. Good thing is the trail wasn’t too messed up and Pat was grooming it as we drove away

Thanks Pat and Chris for your help.
Please no hate for this one. We all make mistakes , the guy knew he made one and was a good guy and very appreciative and most importantly is a veteran so he gets a pass for sure.

So trails back open and groomed and the best thing I saw was our trails are hard and flat and ready to be ridden !!!

Have fun and be safe
