Delta-8 THC is a psychoactive compound found in cannabis plants, but most commercial Delta-8 products are made by chemically converting hemp-derived CBD into Delta-8.

📊 Key facts:
• Delta-8 is chemically similar to Delta-9 THC (the main psychoactive ingredient in ma*****na)
• It can produce intoxication (feeling “high”), affecting judgment and coordination
• The FDA has not approved Delta-8 for safe use in any form
• Products are often unregulated, meaning potency and ingredients can vary widely
• Some Delta-8 products have been found to contain contaminants or higher levels of THC than labeled

⚠️ Health and safety concerns:
• Impaired memory, focus, and reaction time
• Increased anxiety or paranoia in some users
• Risk of accidental overconsumption due to inconsistent labeling
• Greater risk for youth, whose brains are still developing

At WCAD, we believe education is key. Understanding what these substances are—and what they can do—helps our community make safer, healthier choices. 💙

Va**ng products often contain ni****ne, a highly addictive substance that can affect brain development in teens and young adults.

Even though va**ng may be flavored or look “less harmful,” it can still lead to serious health risks.

Ni****ne va**ng may:
• Cause addiction quickly
• Affect memory, focus, and learning
• Increase anxiety and mood changes
• Impact lung health and breathing over time
• Make it harder to quit once use becomes a habit

Many v**e products also vary in strength, and some may contain other chemicals that are not always clearly known or labeled.

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is involved in many overdose deaths nationwide. It can be extremely dangerous because even small amounts can be lethal, and it is sometimes mixed into other drugs without a person knowing.

Fentanyl may be found in:
• Counterfeit pills made to look like prescription medications
• Other street drugs that are mixed or contaminated
• Powders or substances with no clear labeling

Because it is so potent, exposure can quickly lead to overdose.

Overdose warning signs may include:
• Slow, weak, or stopped breathing
• Unresponsiveness or inability to wake
• Blue or gray lips or fingertips
• Gurgling or choking sounds

Alcohol is a substance that can affect the body and mind, and for teens it can be especially harmful to healthy development.

Alcohol use may:
• Impair judgment and decision-making
• Increase the risk of accidents and injuries
• Affect memory, learning, and school performance
• Impact mental health and emotional stability
• Lead to risky behaviors, especially when mixed with other substances

For young people, the brain is still developing, which makes alcohol’s effects even more significant and long-lasting.

Ni****ne is a highly addictive substance found in ci******es, v**es, pouches, and other to***co products. While it may seem harmless in some forms, ni****ne can have lasting effects—especially on young people.

Ni****ne use may:
• Lead to addiction quickly
• Affect brain development in teens and young adults
• Impact attention, learning, and memory
• Increase stress and mood changes over time
• Create long-term dependence that is hard to break

Even products marketed as “flavored” or “smokeless” can still contain high levels of ni****ne and carry serious health risks.

At Wolfe Countians Against Drugs, we encourage education, prevention, and healthy choices that support a stronger future for our community. 💙

Ma*****na and va**ng products are often seen as “harmless,” especially by teens, but both can have real effects on the developing brain and body.

Ma*****na use may:
• Impact memory, learning, and attention
• Affect motivation and decision-making
• Increase anxiety or mood changes in some individuals
• Interfere with school performance and goals

Va**ng (ni****ne or THC) may:
• Lead to ni****ne dependence and addiction
• Affect brain development in youth
• Irritate and damage lungs
• Reinforce habits that are hard to break over time

Many va**ng and ma*****na products also vary in strength and ingredients, making their effects unpredictable.

At Wolfe Countians Against Drugs, we encourage education, open conversations, and healthy choices that support a stronger future for our youth and community. 💙
