Gravel ride this Sunday, leaving Cville at 1 p.m. We'll drive over to Mammoth Cave National Park and ride the gravel trail from the Visitor's Center area over to Park City, about 9 miles away. After a snack break, we'll ride back. Join us! You'll want to bring a big-tire bike: perhaps a mountain bike or a hybrid. It's a beautiful ride, especially this time of year. --Jim

Mad Dog Century in Cville

This Saturday, August 17, I will be hosting the Mad Dogs from the Louisville Bicycle Club for a Cville-area century, and we would like to invite local riders to join us as well. We will meet at 8 a.m. in the parking lot beside the Heilman Student Center on the CU campus (400 Hoskins Ave.). Helmets are required. "Bike ride tonight. Airport loop at 5 meet at courthouse parking lot." I'm passing this along for Stephen Girard. I plan to be there, but I need clarification on the meeting place: the Courthouse doesn't have a parking lot, just on-street parking around it. The Judicial Center does have a parking lot -- is that where we're meeting?

RYAN SHIPP MEMORIAL RIDE. Dr. Robert Shipp and I will be doing a 40-mile ride this Wednesday, June 12, in memory of his son Ryan. We'll leave at 9 a.m. from behind Cville Bapt Ch and make a loop through Greensburg, Coburg, and the GRLake area. We'll average about 12-13 mph. Are any of you interested in joining us? Let me know.

We will be doing another SlowFunRide tomorrow, Tuesday April 23, at 5:30. Different meeting place: Central Shopping Center (near McDonalds). We'll ride 8 miles like we did last week, with an optional loop that adds another 2 miles. Helmets are required. Children 10 and older may participate so long as they stay close to a parent and pay attention to the rules of the road.
