Proud to have advocated in Washington DC in 2025 for this package for children with cancer. So much gratitude to the relentless leaders and organizations on every level that made this possible!

WE DID IT! 🎉 The most comprehensive childhood cancer legislation in more than a decade was signed by the president and is now LAW.

For every message you sent to lawmakers, every phone call, every tweet, every 'share' of a post, every child's story told: Thank you. You made this moment possible.

Our collective, relentless advocacy means that more children will have a chance to beat cancer and live long, healthy lives.

Today, we celebrate. 👏👏👏

All major WINS for children battling cancer ✨

We are incredibly excited to share that the U.S. House has just PASSED a modified funding package that includes several critical pieces of pediatric cancer legislation!!
This package includes the Mikaela Naylon Give Kids a Chance Act, the Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act, the STAR Act, increased funding for the Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program, and funding for the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative — all major wins for children battling cancer.
The next step is the President’s desk, where this important legislation will be signed into law!

We are incredibly thankful to all of our children, parents and advocates who sent letters to Congress. Your voice was heard!!

This is why we are doing this.

Creating real change has always been the goal—not just reacting to another childhood cancer diagnosis, not just accepting toxic treatment as the starting point, but changing when and how we engage.

Seeing genuine engagement from the National Cancer Institute at the Scientific Advisory Council meeting is significant. It signals a shift toward viewing childhood cancer through a prevention lens—something that has never truly existed at this level before.

This work is about helping the world see childhood cancer differently. Prevention isn’t theoretical. It’s necessary. And it’s finally moving forward.

The 2nd tangible item that we are sharing from the Scientific Advisory Council (SAC) meeting, January 21-22, for the Childhood Cancer Prevention Consortium, is the engagement and interest from the National Cancer Institute. (NCI).

A high-level member of NCI attended both days of the meeting, fully engaged, exchange of ideas, suggestions, and an absolute intention to bring the discussion of childhood cancer prevention to the highest levels of NCI. Conversations are underway to work together with NCI to bring a focus to childhood cancer prevention that has not ever existed there yet.

We promised tangible outcomes from the SAC meeting. We promised tangible outcomes from the Childhood Cancer Prevention Consortium. Together with all the Consortium Partners, these promises are being kept.

A powerful milestone for childhood cancer prevention. The Childhood Cancer Prevention Consortium held its first Scientific Advisory Council meeting, and we’re excited, inspired, and moving forward—together. This is how prevention begins.

In order to be impactful, you have to be tangible...

Following last week's meeting of the Scientific Advisory Council (SAC) for the Childhood Cancer Prevention Consortium, the Consortium Partners are beginning the road to that major impact that this initiative promises.

The first major outcome from the SAC meeting was the completion of an agreed upon definition of what Childhood Cancer Prevention is. This was discussed and debated for several hours on the first day of the meeting. This is important because from this point, the definition can be used by the community and hopefully universally adopted.

Childhood Cancer Prevention includes 3 categories:

Primary Prevention: Prevention of cancer in children through the decrease of risk factors and promotion of protective health strategies.

Secondary Prevention: Prevention through risk prediction, early detection, and timely intervention to improve outcomes.

Tertiary Prevention: Minimizing life long consequences of childhood cancer.

Here for the first time, a comprehensive definition and understanding of what it means when we discuss childhood cancer prevention.

Childhood cancer prevention is achievable...

Last week was one of the most amazing times for the childhood cancer community. For 2 days, 11 of the most brilliant scientific and clinical minds sat in one room, fixed on one issue. Preventing childhood cancer. At the end of the 2nd day, one of the most powerful statements came forth from this meeting:

"You have built something that will prevent many children from being diagnosed with cancer." But now is the time we will need support to move towards this action. This is tangible, this is achievable. This is not something to be taken away in an election cycle. This will be a roadmap, a blueprint that guides scientists and clinicians to the real tools that prevent children from developing cancer.

In the coming days, we will share some of the tangible outcomes from this meeting. And in the coming months, we will demonstrate that prevention is a tangible and achievable mission. Audacity and change begin with a belief. And we believe....

Koa should have started high school this year.

Instead, his legacy is helping protect children before cancer begins.

California just passed a new public health law requiring tortillas to be fortified with folate — a nutrient already proven to prevent neural tube defects and now increasingly linked to lower childhood cancer risk, including leukemia.

Research from large scientific collaborations, including the Childhood Leukemia International Consortium (CLIC), shows maternal folate intake is associated with reduced childhood leukemia risk. This is prevention at the earliest stage — before symptoms, before diagnosis, before treatment.

Koa never had the benefit of early protection.
That is why this matters.

Childhood cancer prevention isn’t abstract.
It looks like smart nutrition policy.
It looks like equity.
It looks like action before disease begins.

If this matters to you, please save and share.
More visibility means more momentum for prevention.
