RIP Chief

It is with deep sorrow that the Fire Chiefs Association of Orange County announces the passing of Past President Scott S Arciero. Chief Arciero went home to the Almighty Chief on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Chief Arciero was also a Past Chief for the Mechanicstown Fire Department and Past Financial Secretary of the Orange County Volunteer Firefighters Association.

The officers and members of the FCAOCNY keep the Arciero and Mechanicstown FD in our prayers.

Services for Chief Arciero will be on Thursday, June 25, 2-4 and 7-9 at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell funeral home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY
Service will be 11 am Friday, June 26 at the funeral home and burial at Wallkill Cemetery, 160 Midway Rd, Middletown.

Rest In Peace, Chief. We have the watch from here.

At 7:23 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, our department was dispatched with Maybrook on an automatic response for a reported smoke condition behind a barn on Route 208. Upon arrival, crews found a large brush fire behind the barn with multiple exposures. A tanker from Washingtonville was requested for additional mutual aid. The fire was extinguished without further damage to the exposures. All units returned to service at 8:30 p.m.
