Nothing goes to waste at Rainbow Acres! 🌱

Jeff has been hard at work these past few weeks helping build quite the compost pile!

Food scraps collected from the houses and kitchen make their way out to the garden, where Rodolfo and his Rancher crew turn them into compost that will eventually help grow future crops. In one week alone, four full buckets came from the houses, with even more collected from the kitchen!

There's always something growing, and something to learn at the Ranch. 💚

Thank You, First Baptist Hanford!

From all of us at Rainbow Acres, we want to say a heartfelt thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to spend the week with us. We are so grateful for your willingness to serve, work hard, and make such a difference around the Ranch.

You accomplished so much during your visit! From building raised garden beds in the greenhouse and shade house, installing irrigation, and helping with the renovation of Koinonia House, your hard work will have a lasting impact at Rainbow Acres.

We also appreciate all the extra hands that helped prepare for our upcoming Legacy Luncheon—from polishing silverware and glassware to assembling napkin rings and ironing tablecloths. Every task, big or small, was a tremendous help.

But most importantly, thank you for the time you spent with our Ranchers. Whether you were playing Bingo, singing karaoke, bowling, doing crafts, or leading Prayer Circle, you gave them something even more meaningful—your time, friendship, laughter, and encouragement.

You created special memories and friendships that our Ranchers will remember long after your visit.

Thank you, FBC Hanford, for being such a special part of the Rainbow Acres family. We appreciate each and every one of you and can’t wait to welcome you back next year!

The Rainbow Acres Ambassador Choir is hitting the road! 🎶🚌

After singing the National Anthem at our Bocce Tournament this past weekend, members of the Ambassador Choir are headed to California for another special weekend of music and fellowship!

The choir will be singing at the ABCOFLASH Annual Meeting, a gathering of American Baptist Churches of Los Angeles, the Southwest and Hawaii. While they’re in California, our Ranchers will also have the opportunity to worship alongside members of The First Baptist Church of Redlands, one of Rainbow Acres’ longtime supporting churches.

As our Ranchers and their caregivers travel, we invite you to keep them in your prayers... for safe travels, a wonderful time together, and that their music, faith and joyful spirits would be a blessing to everyone they meet. 🙏

Shhh... no one told the sunflowers to wait for Family Weekend! 🌻

Rodolfo and his crew planted them with October in mind, but the first blooms are already here. By the looks of it, we’ll have plenty to share now and plenty more when families arrive.

Lori, Stephanie and Philip picked some of the first flowers this week. And don’t tell the staff, but some of the next blooms have their names on them! 🤫

Thanks to Rodolfo and the crew for growing a little extra sunshine for everyone! ☀️

What better way to spend an afternoon than hiking, splashing and exploring the beauty of the Verde Valley?

Earlier this week, a group of Ranchers headed to Clear Creek, just a short drive from Rainbow Acres, for an afternoon in nature. Everyone enjoyed hiking along the creek, and Nick, Luke, Phillip and John Bryan wasted no time getting into the water. The photos may not prove it, but trust us. They did! 😊

A huge thank you to Leonard, Betty and Jon for making sure the Ranchers had everything they needed for a joyful adventure. Their care and commitment help make experiences like this possible and give Ranchers more opportunities to explore the natural beauty surrounding us.

Next up: a hiking and swimming adventure in the Cathedral Rock area of Sedona. Stay tuned!

A big thank you to volunteers from The The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Camp Verde for spending their Saturday morning with us at Rainbow Acres!

They jumped right in to help with important outdoor projects around campus, including weeding and cleaning up the orchard, clearing weeds along the west side of the property, and moving and stacking rocks. Their hard work and extra hands made a big difference!

But the morning wasn’t all work! Afterward, everyone had a chance to have some fun and, most importantly, spend time getting to know our Ranchers. They played Boomball, basketball, ping pong, and pool together, sharing plenty of laughs and making new connections along the way.

We are so grateful for the time, energy, and kindness this wonderful group shared with Rainbow Acres today.

Thank you for working hard, having fun, and making our Ranchers such an important part of your day. We loved having you here! 🌱💚

Leadership in Action: Our Ranchers Visit Camp Verde City Hall

Last Wednesday was an exciting day of learning, leadership, and community connection for our Rainbow Acres Ranchers!

As part of our Leadership Class, our Ranchers visited Camp Verde City Hall for an enriching two-hour session about how local government serves our community. Paul introduced the Ranchers and shared more about Rainbow Acres’ educational programs before the group heard from the City Manager and leaders from Community Development and Planning, Parks and Recreation, and Water.

Our Ranchers learned about public services, community programs and events, and how local government decisions help shape the community we call home.

A highlight of the visit was gathering in the Town Council Chambers, where our own Robin Godwin, a Camp Verde Council Member, explained how Council meetings work and how the public can participate in the decision-making process.

Our Ranchers were engaged, curious, and full of thoughtful questions throughout the session! The presenters welcomed their participation and encouraged their interest in becoming more involved in their community. Robin also praised the Ranchers for their enthusiasm and their ability to learn about complex topics and leadership strategies.

We couldn’t be prouder of their willingness to ask questions, participate, and grow as leaders.

And this is only the beginning! Future Leadership Class visits are being planned to explore the next levels of government, including the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors and, eventually, the Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix.

Experiences like this give our Ranchers meaningful opportunities to build knowledge, confidence, leadership skills, and stronger connections to the community around them.

We are incredibly proud of our Ranchers and grateful to the Town of Camp Verde for welcoming our group and making this such a meaningful learning experience!

There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes to keep Rainbow Acres running smoothly, and we are incredibly grateful for our Buildings, Grounds & Fleet Team!

Led by Bob Hauer, this hardworking crew takes care of so much around the Ranch—from maintaining our buildings and beautiful grounds to keeping our vehicles and equipment ready to go. No matter what needs attention, they are always working to make Rainbow Acres a safe, welcoming, and well-cared-for home for our Ranchers.

Building Confidence, One Ride at a Time

Today, Joel, our Science & Horsemanship Educator, spent some special time working with Laci and Yellowstone. Moments like these are about so much more than learning to ride—they're about building trust, confidence, independence, and a meaningful connection with an animal.

Joel shared how impressed he has been with Laci’s determination:
“Laci has really impressed me with her ‘can do’ attitude. She makes whatever adjustments are necessary in order to mount, dismount, and ride a horse.”

That “can do” spirit is exactly what we love to see at Rainbow Acres! 🌈

Working with horses can offer many therapeutic benefits. Grooming, riding, communicating, and caring for a horse can encourage patience, improve confidence, strengthen communication and motor skills, and provide a wonderful sense of accomplishment. And sometimes, simply spending time with a horse can create a sense of calm and connection.

For Laci, working with Yellowstone is another opportunity to challenge herself, discover what she can do, and celebrate each accomplishment along the way.
