This week, we celebrate the educators who show up in every space. ✨

Not just in classrooms—
but in communities, programs, and real-world learning environments.

To our trainers, facilitators, and mentors—
thank you for equipping our youth with the skills, confidence, and exposure to move from learning to earning.

You’re not just teaching…
you’re building futures.

💛 Tag a facilitator who made an impact in your life.

The day after our Accelerated Futures Showcase, we showed up at Ballou High School’s Market Day to support.

Several of our participants were also vendors—continuing their entrepreneurial journeys through programs at their school.

We’re proud to see young people taking initiative in multiple spaces.

While this was not a YBFE-led event, we believe in showing up where our youth are.

Unawarded micro-grant funds from our showcase were used to directly support student businesses—putting real dollars behind their efforts.

Because supporting youth entrepreneurship goes beyond our programs.

10 YEARS OF IMPACT 🎉

YBFE’s journey started with one event — the 2016 Women & Youth Empowerment Event.

A space created to promote self-love, self-acceptance, and empowerment for women and youth.

What started as a single event with a vision…
Has grown into a movement.

✨ Youth programs
✨ Entrepreneurship development
✨ Community impact

From that first room of 100+ attendees to the work we’re doing today —
YBFE has always been about creating opportunities, building confidence, and empowering the next generation.

And this is only the beginning.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, participated, and believed in this mission over the years 💛

✨ Black History Month Highlight Series: African American Entrepreneurs — Then & Now ✨

This February, YBFE is honoring the legacy, innovation, and economic impact of African American entrepreneurs by spotlighting trailblazers of the past alongside leaders shaping our communities today.

🕰️ THEN: Annie Turnbo Malone
An entrepreneur, inventor, and philanthropist who became one of the first African American women millionaires and built a beauty empire rooted in opportunity, education, and community uplift.

🚀 NOW: Shanay “Topcurl” Wiggs
A beauty educator and entrepreneur continuing that legacy by empowering and licensing the next generation of beauty professionals across the DMV.

This series exists to show that Black entrepreneurship is not new — it is inherited, evolving, and powerful. From legacy to leadership, the work continues.

📍 Follow along all month as we celebrate African American entrepreneurs — then and now.
