Getting dirty is expected. Jesus expects certain things from his followers. He doesn’t expect these things from us in some sort of weird “follow the rules or else way”. But rather He expects them from us because He did them and as His followers we should expect to do what He does. In other words, getting dirty as a follower of Jesus is expected. ying in the mud, like the story of healing the blind man from John 9. Jesus was dangerous. He took risks that no one else was willing to take. He was not content sitting and watching. He was not impressed with just talking. Jesus got involved. He sacrificed safety. Jesus would rather die than just sorta live. Remember the story in Luke 5 of the l***r He touched? Getting dirty is fun. Jesus seems to make things fun when we are really following Him. So many people think that following Jesus means that your life gets predictable and boring. You know what? For many Christ followers that is true because all they do is show up at church a couple times a week and call that discipleship. No wonder the Christian life is not life changing. We don’t expect miracles. We don’t expect it to be fun. We don’t expect it to be exciting. We don’t make the decision to get dirty. That is not what Jesus had in mind. Just look at the story of Peter walking on the water in John 6 or feeding the 5000 in Matthew 14 or catching a bunch of fish in Luke 5!
