What happens to your aluminum drink cans after you donate them to us? We sell them for cash that funds our Senior Boxes for a month, and the cans go on to become new drink cans, reducing emissions and fuel costs from mining new aluminum. Learn more by watching this video.

We served all 40 chicken sandwiches today, and several neighbors found some good reads at the Horseshoe Bend Regional Library bookmobile. They’ll be back next month on October 22!

Community Center Closed Tuesday / Delayed Food Pantry Wednesday

Good Morning neighbors! Owing to the Food Bank being closed last Friday for inventory, we will not be receiving our food delivery until early Wednesday morning. As a result, our schedule will be slightly modified this week. (1) Oak Street Community Center will be closed Tuesday (9/1) so volunteers and staff can rest. (2) Food Pantry will start at 10am on Wednesday (9/2). (3) Homebound grocery delivery will be on Wednesday afternoon. Thank you for your understanding!

A complete thank you and acknowledgement of all the people who made this upgrade possible will come soon, but we wanted to update all our guests that the new approach to their community center is open. Please exercise caution on the pathways onto the porch as the gravel is still a little uneven. We are working to get it as close to perfect as possible.

In July, we took THREE loads of cans to be sold for scrap. The 110 lbs of cans you donated will purchase enough food for our pantry to feed two families (based on monthly distribution averages) in the month of August! We accept empty aluminum drink cans during our normal hours if you want a donation receipt (or leave them in the blue bin on the back patio after hours if you don’t).

When our patio needed a good cleaning, Fred Morgan of Morgan Pressure Washing, was ready to help. Thanks to his gift of hard work and expertise, our decades old concrete is looking brand new!

Everything we do at the Community Center is powered by good neighbors in Camp Hill, Waverly, Dadeville, Auburn, Opelika, and surrounding communities. Want to help? Send us a DM!
