Great conversations and new connections at the 2026 SWAN/IL Summer Statewide Meeting!

PSRFA Executive Director Melissa Geesaman and Board President Russ McCurdy were pleased to meet with Laval Miller-Wilson, Deputy Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Office of Children, Youth and Families.

Opportunities like this help us share PSRFA's mission, raise awareness of the needs of resource families, explore potential partnerships, and strengthen relationships across Pennsylvania's child welfare community.

In honor of National Foster Care Month, PSRFA is excited to kick off our Foster Parent Appreciation Events this Saturday, May 16, 2026 in Pittsburgh!!!

We are so thankful for the foster, adoptive, and kinship families across Pennsylvania who open their hearts and homes to children every day. We can’t wait to spend this special day celebrating YOU!

All children and youth deserve to feel safe, supported, and surrounded by people who believe in them. During National Foster Care Month, we honor the strength of the children and teens in foster care, the families who open their homes and hearts, and the professionals and community members who stand beside them every day. This month, we invite all Pennsylvanians to help ensure that every young person in our Commonwealth can build lifelong connections, experience unconditional support, and know they have a safe, nurturing place to call home.

There are so many meaningful ways to make a difference, becoming a foster parent, mentoring a young person, offering support to foster families, or simply spreading awareness. Every act of care helps create the stability and love that children and teens need to thrive.

There’s something really special about coming together for a cause that truly matters!

We invite you to attend Bingo & Belonging – A Foster Care Awareness Event on May 2nd, 2026 at The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh from 11am to 1pm. This will be more than just a day of games, it will be a powerful reminder of the importance of connection, community, and compassion. Every bingo card, every conversation, and every shared laugh will help shine a light on the realities children in foster care face every day.

Events like this create space not only to raise awareness, but to build belonging—for kids, for families, and for everyone who wants to make a difference. It’s about showing up, learning, and supporting one another in meaningful ways. Play bingo, win prizes, eat food. And most importantly, learn about foster care and how you can help. We look forward to seeing you there!
