Asymmetric Operations Group

Asymmetric Operations Group METHOD

Operationally, we are influenced by an old school OSS model with a core structure resembling the original AWG (https://www.awg.army.mil).

MISSION:

The Asymmetric Operations Group (AOG) develops unconventional wellness support and human performance enhancement for veterans; then repurposes those veterans creating a Tribe to apply their unique skills against global asymmetric challenges Both organizations were eventually destroyed by the bureaucracy due to institutional jealousies and the fact that their effectiveness and innovatio

n threatened existing organizational agendas; however, the requirement and need has clearly spanned generations. Now, with the dissolution of the AWG a new gap in capability is again opening. As a non-profit, we will carry on the OSS / AWG legacy beyond the reach of the bureaucracy creating the ultimate unconventional warfare campaign. A campaign for justice and human rights while preserving critical unconventional warfare and community policing expertise for future conflict against evil in the world. Even more, we believe by melding these unique backgrounds, experiences, and personalities into a cohesive organization leveraging our collective joint, interagency, corporate, and academic perspectives, we will truly approach issues in an unconventional and asymmetric manner. Based on current events, politics, and challenges across both our Nation and the Globe, we believe it is now time to fully implement our plan; however, to do that we need additional funding and a broader base of support. Specifically, we need former SF, SOF, military, LE and National Security personnel to become advocates and advisors helping us to expand the insurgency. We need philanthropic support to grow more rapidly into current capability and capacity gaps. Eventually, we will seek additional government financial support and grants, however we believe establishing a base capability outside government contracting is essential to advocating and creating change. We do have the backing, support, and endorsement of a number of military and law enforcement agencies as we move forward, but we must execute a viable “proof of concept” in a field environment to rapidly validate our methodology.

As many of you know the Asymmetric Operations Group (AOG)
( https://www.aog.vet/ ) and Special Forces Association Post 64 ( https://sfa64.org/ ) have been working the last few years to erect a Memorial honoring those units that fought, and the men who died on, or around 3 Oct 1993, during the Battle of Mogadishu

https://www.asomf.org/operation-gothic-serpent-the-battle-of-mogadishu/

Initially the desire was to erect the Memorial either on the Army War College Grounds or at the Army Heritage Center adjacent to Carlisle Barracks. We raised the funds necessary to create the statue and develop an initial plan for a stone base. Many of you were part of that effort.

Due to political issues we were eventually denied permission for reasons that remain unclear. At that point we were generously offered space and support from West Pennsboro Township Veteran’s Park, close to the War College, and within the very Township that local Medal of Honor recipient SFC Randy Shughart grew up.

https://www.cmohs.org/recipients/randall-d-shughart

Randy and MSG Gary Gordon received the Medal of Honor Posthumously for actions during the Battle of Mogadishu.

https://www.cmohs.org/recipients/gary-i-gordon

From our perspective this has worked as an advantage as the Memorial will be center stage in a Community Park surrounded by baseball, soccer, and football fields. Here, all year long, hundreds of children in Central PA will learn the story of our heroes that day and be reminded of their sacrifice every time they enter the Park.

In the process of working to fund raise and erect the Memorial I, a retired Special Forces Officer, learned so much of the battle, and subsequent heroism, had been lost to history. Thus, what started out as a Memorial to SFC Randy Shughart, a local hero, grew to be a more inclusive vision of all who fought, and most especially the lost story of the 10th Mountain Division.

For those who taught me that history please note we have reworked the base to list the 10th Mountain Division KIAs (See attached rendering of the base) and are now looking at ways to further honor their story. We welcome suggestions from the 10th Mountain Division Veterans of Mogadishu as well as a potential speaker for the day’s events in Central PA.

Bottom Line we need your aid and donations to close this effort out! We want the celebration and dedication to be a memorable event. You are all invited. Details will be posted shortly.

Greetings Friends

As many of you know, in 2017 a group of us, former Special Operators (SOF), and Federal Law Enforcement (LE), created a non-profit (501 C 3) dedicated to aiding veterans, post service, while trying to refocus their talents to do good in the World.

Our Mission is: Mission — AOG

Specifically, we have done work in the medical / psychological arena, as well as academia, which we are now moving full time to Gettysburg College in PA establishing the Unconventional & Asymmetric Conflict Center with the College.

A critical part of our Vision, beyond academia, is the creation of field opportunities where former SOF and LE can work with and mentor a new generation of Leaders while having a positive impact on the future of our World. In this way we give our Veterans a post service purpose and a new Tribe within which they can flourish.

The latest overseas support effort is outlined in the link below focused on support to indigenous Ranger programs in Africa. These programs are designed to protect endangered wildlife but through the employment of local, indigenous Rangers. AOG's intent is provide resources and advisory support executing a classic by, with and thru strategy. We had started this effort in 2019, but COVID set back the expansion we were planning in field work across Africa. This summer we are rebooting the program and need your support. This is especially critical now as we are actively working with US Government regional authorities and NGOs to bridge gaps while USAID and State Department priorities are assessed for future funding.

Please share in your Networks and donate as you can. We want to start our first deployments this Fall and bridge immediate gaps in funding indigenous programs immediately. The mission critical need is $530,000.00 USD with increments discussed in the link. While we are Crowd Sourcing this at the moment, we would welcome Foundational and Corporate donors to sustain our long-term efforts (https://www.aog.vet/fundraising-focus). As an active 501 C3 all donations are tax deductible.

East African Counter Poaching Support - Please Donate & Share

The Asymmetric Operations Group (https://www.aog.vet/) has recently re-launched our campaign to support wildlife preservation efforts across East Africa through material and advisory support. Prior to COVID we had been actively building a support and advisory program in Tanzania however that was brought to an abrupt halt by the onslaught of the global pandemic. At that point we were forced to abandon our initial program and refocus on other academic and research projects. Today we need to rapidly rebuild our Counter Poaching project to save a homegrown, community-based organization in Nigeria that protects endangered animals daily. For the animals this is a no fail mission.

In the AOG re-building the Counter Poaching portion of our organization is critical to the success of our overall goal: Helping our former Warriors by providing a new "calling" and Tribe where they apply their unique skills to “wicked” global problems. This gives them purpose and focus while doing good in the world! This is critical to their individual, long term, well-being and health.

Thus, this Spring we are reentering the wildlife protection fight as we look to sponsor, and aid localized “Ranger” programs across Eastern Africa. This particular campaign is only the first! To do so we need your help now, and well into the future!

This first project is focused on the support and enhancement of a small community-based wildlife protection program in Kenya that recently lost their funding. We are in the process of providing the Mara Loita Community Rangers in Kenya with additional material support for basic gear and salaries to sustain current operations which requires an immediate minimum of $220, 000.00 for a year. This is simply to pay and maintain current levels of effort by the Rangers. We also need to raise an additional $310,000.00 to conduct an on-ground assessment and survey to determine the requirements for expansion of long-term operations, as well as those items required to make the Mara Loita Community Rangers more effective. To do this we intend to send a Team of experts, for a month, to fully look at all aspects of the operation to determine actual need for additional material support, capabilities and training, as well as to conduct extensive joint planning with the Rangers and their Community. Our intent is to leave one to two of our personnel behind embedded with the Rangers, as Advisors, for up to six months. Later we intend to build a cadre or regional advisors to remain constantly engaged with our Partners across the region.

All this requires funding and for that we need you!

Just checking in for the followers. We in AOG have a bunch of issues moving forward. Of note:

1. We have re-entered the Counter Poaching arena in Africa. We will post an update shortly but suffice to say we will need your aid in funding additional efforts across Eastern Africa and even here at home! More details to follow however attached are some recent pictures from our Kenyan effort. Overall, we are looking for an additional $540 K for a full push in Kenya in this calendar year. I will be posting on this shortly.

2. We had a gathering in early March at the Troysgate facility in Lenior, NC. AOG is seeking funding through Foundational and High Net Worth Donor Support to build a Conflict Matrix Lab for Close Lethal Encounter Research in multiple locations across the US. Our first site will be in Gettysburg, PA with the follow-on locations slated for Eastern PA; Austin, Texas; Tampa / St Petersburg, FL and the Charleston, SC area. Each site will cost approximately $4.5 Million to build and maintain for the first year. The good news is current projections indicate each facility can be self-sustaining in year 2 by providing free training for State / Local Police while charging civilians for the unique and unparalleled training. More information is available as requested and we will be posting updates here shortly. Pictures from that gathering Woll be posted tomorrow.

There are two other large efforts I cannot yet reveal however stand by!

Please donate as you see fit! Any help is always welcome.
