THANK YOU!!!! Direct link below. Pictures from various AAFH events and Paul's Mitchel Field NCO Club. 🙂 "Faces From Mitchel Field." is a historical non-fiction book that explores the 44-year history of Mitchel Field, the historic airfield on Long Island, New York. Profusely illustrated, most of the hundreds of photos come from the Cradle of Aviation Museum’s archives, along with a few additional public and private sources. The book provides a glimpse into life at Mitchel Field through the eyes and the stories of 38 individuals who served there. Five sections cover the “Cradle of Aviation” period from 1908-1917, World War I, Between the Wars, World War II, and the post-war era up until its closing in 1961 with a large focus on the World War II years. It draws from numerous newspaper, official military, and government documents, as well as many archival primary sources. https://a.co/d/0g10zBrk

Yesterday AAFHA boarded the Battleship New Jersey for their annual Victory Day event. We had a wonderful time getting to share the history of the Army Air Forces with all the visitors who came through the ward room.

It's always a wonderful experience to get to share our displays on such a historic vessel. Thank you to all the BB62 staff for your hard work and hospitality this Victory Day!

AAFHA is all set up in the Ward Room.

From gas station canopy to airworthy aircraft, an article about the progress of B-17 Lacey Lady's journey.

One of the most fascinating aspects of warbird history is not just the aircraft themselves—but the improbable paths they’ve taken to survive. The B-17 Flying Fortress Lacey Lady is a prime example. Thanks to Scott Thompson of Aero Vintage, we have permission to relay his latest update on the pro...

The remains of four crew members from the B-24 "Heaven Can Wait" have been recovered and returned home. 81 years after the plane was hit by enemy fire off the Pacific island of New Guinea on March 11, 1944.

"It's been an impossible journey — just should never have been able to get to this day. And here we are, 81 years later."
