Good evening folks
Wednesday January 22
Important trail update

The section of trail from intersection R5 to R15n this is the lost Logan road to spotted mountain road which lead back to the groomer barn access trail. This section of trail is closed all winter for logging

Please stay off this section of plowed road. We got a call today from the land owners and there has been too many close calls with sleds and logging trucks on this section

If this continues we will lose that whole area for the winter which will really limit travel.

Please respect the landowners and stay on the marked trail

The tractors have been out and trails are looking pretty good for the little snow we do have. There is great spots and some thin spots. Definitely worth riding so get off the couch and get out there

There will be a few more updates later this week for a few other reroutes so stay tuned

Thanks for the update Riley!

Thanks for the update Riley!

RILEY HERE… just got back from a quick ride around the Shin Pond / Matagamon Loop! Now if you know me, you know I keep it REAL.. so here’s what I’ve got to say about the current trail conditions;

I was impressed by what I saw on my quick 60 mile loop today. No icy corners, no bare sections, no DIRT! Certainly not our pristine white carpets that we see in February, but rideable nonetheless. I can tell you that 60 miles was HAND DOWN, the happiest I’ve been all of 2025!

Conditions are in the eye of the beholder, but what I can tell you is if you’d like to spend the weekend on your snowmobile with a smile on your face, NOWS THE TIME! You can easily get a couple hundred miles of riding in just from here.

I’ve heard trails from Shin Pond to Oxbow are great. So make sure to go see my friends over at Homestead Lodge Oxbow, ME.

Libby Camps is open & grooming and you can get to the trains (if you’ve never done this trip, it’s a MUST, so much history!)

Ice fishing is happening just about EVERYWHERE. You can call me at Shin Pond Village (207)528-2900 and I can set you up with a Rental Ice Fishing Shack 🎣

For those of you who do want come up this weekend and scratch that itch I want to thank you. Thank you for not only supporting my family’s business, but also the other local businesses so that we can continue to support you and this amazing sport for years to come. ❤️

I also want to remind you all that there’s a Raffle going on right now for Joe at Matagamon Wilderness, he was involved in a pretty serious accident and has a long road to recovery ahead. You can purchase raffle tickets from us at Shin Pond Village or online off of the Bowlin Matagamon Shin Pond Snowmobile Club page. Prayers for Joe’s speedy recovery!

Watch for logging, ride responsibly, and WEAR YOUR TEKVEST!

At least someone has snow.

Yes, that's an 18-inch bar on our chainsaw buried in the snow—showing just how deep it is as you head west toward Kokadjo via ITS 85/86 from New England Outdoor Center - NEOC!

For the latest trail updates, be sure to check our grooming report. Riding conditions to the north and west are excellent. Local rider and friend, Curt Bonnell, shared that his riding experience last weekend was awesome!

The River Drivers Restaurant and Knife Edge Brewing are open, and non-ethanol gas is available. Temporary access via Millinocket Lake has been staked with reflectors to guide you to and from the ITS trail. Please proceed with caution and at your own risk.

Remember Folks! We've had a strange winter one day 20 overnight maybe 0. Some days 42 and overnight 30. This latest snow rain storm acts like insulation on the ice, making lots of slush Please be careful!
