Job well done!

With the support of our community, Budget Committee, Town Manager and Select Board, we're pleased to introduce new full-time employees at Camden Fire. Over the summer we hired 4 new Firefighters. One was hired after Andrew Lowe changed careers and the other 3 are newly approved positions in the FY25 budget.

Firefighter/EMT Noah Carlson brings with him his experience from St.George Fire&Rescue and South Thomaston Emergency Services Auxiliary. He lives in St George.

Firefighter/EMT Andrew Skrivanich has been a call member of the CFD since 2021. He and his family live in Camden. Andy also operates https://www.maineoutdoorguides.com/

Firefighter Jacob Wilder has been an employee at the Camden Snow Bowl for the last couple of years. He is also a member of the Appleton Maine Volunteer Fire Department. He is currently enrolled in an EMT Basic program.

In addition to experience from the U.S. Coast Guard, Firefighter Derek Jay brings a ton of enthusiasm and cooking skills to the CFD. He is also a member of St.George Fire&Rescue and is enrolled in an EMT Basic program with Jacob.

All 4 of these new Firefighters received their education and certifications through the Knox County Fire Training Academy. It's great to integrate the knowledge and experiences of Firefighters from around Knox County into our organization.

The value of having additional personnel on staff has shown itself already. The fire which occurred on Rockbrook Drive during the afternoon of September 24th was held in check due to the quicker response of a 3 person crew supplemented by the additional personnel which Rockport Maine Fire Department now has on staff. We also benefited from the assistance provided by Lincolnville Fire Department and HOPE FIRE Department.

In addition to these full-time personnel, we've also been fortunate to add to our part-time, on-call Firefighters. Gabe Zacchai, Tim Beynart and Shannon Wallace have joined us recently and are ready to provide assistance to the community. Get in touch with us to see how your knowledge, skills and abilities can be an asset to our organization!

Please join with us in welcoming the new personnel to our community!

Thanks to Retired Chief Bob Oxton and Lynda Clancy for this history of the connection between Camden Fire and Emergency Medical Services in our community.

Camden voters will consider at the June Town Meeting polls whether to further expand EMS capacity of their fire department. This entails hiring three full-time firefighters who are trained as EMTs, a move, if approved, that expands the fire...
