Thanks to our friends from West Bay Rotary - Camden, Maine and Rockland Rotary Club for being with us at Brodis Blueberries Friday evening. We appreciated spending time on a gorgeous Maine evening in good company, along with people from all over!

Roger Moody, our longtime club member and resident historian, will share highlights of his book, Logging Towboats and Boom Jumpers, at noon on Tuesday, August 18. He will tell the story of O.A. Harkness, the mechanical genius who designed, built, and maintained watercraft for log driving operations in Maine during the first half of the twentieth century.

This week we officially welcomed Ward Wickwire as a new club member and learned about the joy Liam Paige takes in creating art.

We learn something new at all our meetings and welcome visitors to learn with us at noon on Tuesdays at First Congregational Church, Camden.

Our hearts are broken after hearing the news about the tragic passing on Monday of our District Governor, Serge Poulin. Serge embodied Rotary; His passion for doing good in the world, his infectious energy as he shared his vision and goals for this Rotary year and his wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Our condolences to Marie-Christine, his family and friends, and the entire Rotary family across District 7790 and the world.

Let us all honor his memory by continuing the good work we do to make life better for others. Service Above Self.

Coming at noon this Tuesday: a guest presentation by OceansWide Founder and CEO Buzz Scott shares the adventure of helping students
explore the depths of the Gulf of Maine with SCUBA gear, remotely
controlled vehicles, and other equipment.

Mike McGovern, from the South Portland–Cape Elizabeth Rotary Club, will tell us about the Maranatha Maternity Ward project in Uganda. This is a joint project of Mike's club and two others: Rotary Club of Kampala East and the Rotary Club of Lugogo Mango Tree.

The project will provide the Nakasongola Health Centre IV, a major medical facility serving a large rural population, with the equipment and training to provide safe, reliable obstetric and neonatal care . The goal is to give thousands of mothers and newborns a safe start in life.

As chair of the Rotary International PolioPlus Committee and a former district governor, McGovern has been active in global health initiatives, including maternal and newborn care programs.
