Good idea? This is an event that the "Autism Works" Group in Liberty Missouri hosts. Seems like a great idea... what do you think?

Lora Perry, MS, BCBA is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and founder of Merrymeeting School and Behavioral Health which opened their doors for business on March 1, 2001 and ultimately acquired by Providence Service Corp of Maine. Lora has recently retired from Providence and started a blog to help parents/caregivers of children with disabilities transition into adulthood. In addition, Lora is available for trainings and workshops and an inspiration for so many parents (like me) who only want their child to live a full and happy life by actively participating and becoming contributing members of society. She is an amazing mother, advocate and resource. Lora blog: http://www.transition2adulthood.com/

As founder of SETON I never realized how many young people and adults actually struggle with anxiety and depression disorders until we opened our doors in 2008. The power of music and art can be a HUGE tool in overcoming this battle.

To Mr. Luke (ed tech) and JW (student): you convinced me of this by the end of the 2008-09 school year after listening to the duet you created over the course of many months and then performed on the piano in front of a large audience. And to Ms. Lynnette (Lead Teacher) and Ms. Amy (Music Teacher/Therapist): thank you for making it happen. A GREAT memory, experience and life lesson.

In 2008 a vision became reality when Lois M. Heath made a very generous donation that allowed SETON SCHOOL to open its doors for children with "special needs". Her gift, trust, and daily encouragement in saying "YOU CAN" has made the midcoast a better place and changed the lives for many children and families, all for the better!

The last 20+ years of your life is the perfect example that a disability (special need) should never hold a person down and everyone can be a contributing member of society and live life to its fullest. As Scott Hamilton once said: "the only disability in life is a bad attitude".

Thank you Great Lois for your everlasting Love, Support and Encouragement!
