We’re excited to invite you to our Art in the Commons Launch Party on:

This event marks the official launch of our 2026 large scale public art project project and will bring together artists, partners, community members, and friends to celebrate the work ahead. It’s an important moment for all of us, and we would love for you to be part of it.

Bring your jeans and join us with fashion expert for this beginner level Sashiko inspired tote or clutch bag Upcycle workshop!

Using jeans that are in need of repair or no longer fit, attendees will learn about the Ancient Japanese mending stitching technique called sashiko and will mend and upcycle their old jeans into an one-of-a-kind clutch or tote bag by hand. No prior sewing experience is required.

*Bring your own jeans or use the jeans that are donated!

This series grows out of Clay Collective, our program supporting justice impacted women through creative practice, and leads into our summer exhibition, Returning to the Ground.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening of Mending the Seams and for showing up across the past two weeks of programming.

From the opening reception to the panel discussion, open studios, and slow looking session, it has been meaningful to see the space activated through conversation, attention, and shared experience.

We’re grateful to the artists, curators, and community who made this exhibition and its surrounding programs possible.

We at Camden FireWorks are thrilled with the community response to our current exhibition Mending the Seams.

Thank you to Cooper Medical School at Rowan Cooper Med. School of Rowan U. and 6abc for visiting this very important exhibition that highlights these highly expressive themes around healing and repair in today’s contemporary society. Your reflections, questions, and presence were so deeply felt and we were happy to host you today.

Thanks to our artists Korean/American Visual Artist 황인주 Chanika Svetvilas| Interdisciplinary Artist Tee Taylor| Philadelphia Artist AdyDidIt Lauren Silver for answering the call to bring so many important causes and ideas into a material world for all to explore deeper.
