It's Buildy time!
Nominations are open for the Buildy Awards, a national award recognizing an outstanding recent museum building project. A Buildy Award nominee must have completed a museum-related construction project within the five-year period of 2020-2025, and the project must have been substantially completed and opened or reopened to the general public for at least one year prior to the submission.

Has your museum, zoo, aquarium, public garden, or visitor center recently completed a transformative construction project? We want to hear about it!
The Buildy Awards recognize outstanding museum-related building projects that demonstrate creativity, innovation, and impact on the communities they serve.
Eligible projects must:
✅ Have been completed between 2020–2025
✅ Have opened or reopened to the public for at least one year before the November 9, 2026 submission deadline
✅ Include new construction, additions, renovations, or a combination of these
✅ Be located anywhere in the world—projects do not need to be in the Mid-Atlantic region
Projects of all sizes and budgets are encouraged to apply. Selection focuses on impact, quality, and the project’s contribution to the visitor experience.
Previously submitted projects that did not receive an award may be resubmitted with an updated nomination form if completed within the 2020–2025 timeframe.
📄 Submit your nomination as a single PDF including:
• Completed nomination form
• Project photos (interior and exterior)
• Floor plans/site plans (as relevant)
• Media coverage, awards, testimonials, or other supporting materials
• Confirmation from the Museum Director or Deputy Director of the project’s intention to be briefly presented at the 2027 Building Museums™ Symposium in Los Angeles
