Camden Parent & Student Union Unapologetically Demanding Excellence for OUR Children

06/16/2026

WE ARE NOT AT WAR WITH AN ISSUE. WE ARE AT WAR WITH A BELIEF SYSTEM.
When we talk about what is happening to our schools, people think we are just fighting standalone issues. They think it’s just about a budget gap, or a single school closing, or the rising cost of everyday living.

But let’s keep it real: We are at war with a belief system.

We are up against a belief system held by outside decision-makers who believe they have the right to walk into our city, strip away our local control, and dictate how our children are educated.

The devastating results of their belief system speak for themselves since the 2013 state takeover:
❌ 11 traditional public schools closed.
❌ 1,100+ dedicated teachers & staff fired.
❌ Student enrollment cut straight in half.
❌ An unexplained $91 Million budget deficit while funding is shifted away from our neighborhood schools.

STOP THE BLEEDING. RETURN CAMDEN TO LOCAL CONTROL.

Don't Be Fooled by the Narrative!

The Camden Education Fund (CEF) and One Camden Enrollment are pushing a story and the community needs to hear the truth.

- CEF claims they pushed ELA scores up nearly 10 points and closed the gap with the state by 7 pts — but here's what they're hiding: Camden's growth started BEFORE the 2013 takeover and started BEFORE Renaissance Schools ever walked through our doors.

❌ Camden students are still falling behind state averages.
❌ The real gap between State and Camden still exists.
❌ CEF is taking credit for progress our community already built.

This is exactly what CEF and One Camden Enrollment do, they dress up a corporate takeover of our public schools in the language of progress and community pride, while the data catches them in the act.

Our community sees through it. Share this post. Speak up. Refuse to let them control the narrative.

Camden students, families, and educators deserve accountability, transparency, and full investment in their neighborhood public schools.
We won’t be distracted!
We won’t forget!
And we won’t stop fighting for the schools our children deserve!

The time for polite requests has passed. We are no longer asking for basic rights; we are demanding accountability from the state leaders who have failed us.

For 12 years, state management has operated in the shadows, leaving Camden families with more questions than answers. While they watch a $91 Million deficit spiral out of control, they simultaneously redirect $200 Million annually away from our neighborhood schools. We refuse to stay silent while they dismantle our children's future and ignore the community's wisdom.

We are mobilizing to force a change in leadership:

DEMAND an immediate, independent forensic audit to expose where our missing millions went.
RECLAIM the right to local control so the people who live in Camden make the decisions for Camden.
STOP the systematic hollowing out of our traditional public schools.
INVEST our public funds back into the counselors, teachers, and resources our students need.

We represent the heart and soul of this city. We are standing up, speaking out, and reclaiming our power. It is time to return Camden to local control.

For generations, we’ve been told to trust the system, to look to the courts, and to wait on politicians to hand us "justice." But let’s be clear: the rules weren't made for us. They were made against us. From Washington, D.C. down to the local school board, systemic racism isn't a glitch, it's embedded in the very fabric of the policies designed to hold us back.

We see it clearly right here in Camden. The 2013 state takeover wasn’t about "reform" or "saving" our children. It was a systematic dismantling of our community:

11 traditional public schools closed
1,100+ of our dedicated teachers & staff fired
Student enrollment cut straight in half

An unexplained $91 Million budget deficit while hundreds of millions are funneled away from our neighborhood schools.

We aren't asking a broken system to save us, we are demanding the right to lead our own schools.

🛑 STOP THE BLEEDING.

Public money should serve the public. Period.

For over a decade, the State has ignored this fundamental rule in Camden. They systematically redirect $200 Million every single year away from the traditional neighborhood schools that our children rely on. While this money leaves our classrooms, the State watches a $91 Million deficit grow without offering the community a single explanation.

We pay the taxes, yet we have no say in how that money supports our schools. This isn't just bad management—it’s a betrayal of the public trust. We are standing up to demand that every dollar intended for Camden students actually reaches Camden students.

We are mobilizing to put public money back in public hands:

RESTORE local control so Camden taxpayers decide our district's financial priorities.
STOP the secret redirection of $200M away from our neighborhood schools.
DEMAND an immediate forensic audit to account for the missing $91M.
REINVEST in the teachers, counselors, and staff who serve our neighborhood children every day.

Public funds belong to the people, not Trenton-appointed bureaucrats. It is time to return Camden to local control.

We are the heart of this city, yet for 12 years, we have been shut out of the room where decisions are made. Camden families deserve a voice, transparency, and absolute accountability.

State leadership continues to manage our schools from a distance, ignoring the wisdom of the parents and students who live here. While they redirect $200 Million away from our neighborhood schools annually and hide behind a $91 Million deficit, we are standing together to demand better. 📉 We refuse to let Trenton-appointed bureaucrats decide our children's future without our consent.

We are mobilizing to reclaim our right to lead:

RECLAIM the vote and return Camden Schools to full Local Control immediately.
DEMAND a forensic audit to bring transparency to the missing millions.
STOP the closures of our traditional public schools that tear our communities apart.
INVEST our tax dollars back into the teachers and staff who support our kids every day.

Camden belongs to us. It is time to put the power back where it belongs in the hands of Camden families.

Twelve years of state takeover is enough. It is time to return Camden Schools to local control. We refuse to let Trenton-appointed bureaucrats make decisions for our children while they ignore our community's voice.

For over a decade, we have watched transparency vanish while a $91 Million deficit grows under state management. We have seen $200 Million redirected annually away from the traditional public schools that serve our neighborhoods. We are standing up to end this experiment and take back the right to govern our own education system.

We are taking a stand to restore our power:

RECLAIM the right of Camden families to vote on our school leadership.
STOP the systematic hollowing out of our traditional public schools.
FORCE a forensic audit to find out where our missing millions went.
REINVEST in our local classrooms, teachers, and student support services.

The power belongs in Camden, not in Trenton. Join us as we demand the return of our schools today.
