On Sunday, April 12th, nearly 20 Black and Brown photographers from New Jersey and Philadelphia attended a deep-dive session on the importance of using their artistic voices authentically. We discussed best business practices, life/work management, various paths in photo education, approaching galleries/museums, and much more!

I am always honored to provide platforms for folk to share their dreams and to find ways to overcome obstacles. We are all looking forward to what germinates from this gathering…

In this engaging conversation, Namibia El, griot (storyteller) and author, will share her journey creating culturally rooted children’s books and discuss the importance of storytelling in preserving history, identity, and community. She will also offer insight into the self-publishing process and practical guidance for writers, illustrators, and creatives who want to bring their literary visions to life. This meetup is an opportunity for artists, educators, and community members to connect, learn, and be inspired by the power of storytelling.
