Hi Neighbors! Has anyone seen a white paddle board that may have blown off of your neighbor's dock?

Does anyone know the owner of this canoe? It washed up on the west shore today.

This year's loon chick is in rehab. It was reported as injured. On the evening of 9/2/2025 it was captured by Wing Goodale of the Biodiversity Research Institute. The Loon was found to have fish hooks lure from a lure embedded in its neck and chest. Hopefully he will be OK. I will let you know if I learn more.

Meanwhile, be careful with your gear.

What are people seeing in the pond with regard to the algae? There is quite a bit over around the toboggan chute and our dock.

It appears that the loons have moved their nest, due to the rise in water level. The male loon, which has a red leg band on left leg, is on a nest that is elevated. I caught a glimpse of an egg! I figure this nest of eggs will probably hatch in about 3 weeks.

One loons is back! It seems to be a slow ice-out, compared with previous years. Is anyone keeping track? The water is clear in front of the nesting spot. Has anyone seen two together this Spring, yet? This sighting may be a lone loon migrating and just passing through. but it's nice to see that the loons are returning to their freshwater summer homes, despite the partial ice cover still intact.
