A Rockland resident submitted a letter to Amjambo Africa regarding a proposed ordinance that would limit local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.

The ordinance passed its first reading in November. A final vote is scheduled for December 8.

A Congolese refugee identified here as Sabine Magna, a pseudonym used to protect her identity living undocumented in the U.S., writes an open letter to President Trump describing her constant fear of deportation. Having fled government persecution in the DRC, she now lives in hiding, unable to work or seek medical care for her children without risking arrest.

More than 15 cultures from around the world were represented at the 23rd annual Greater Portland Festival of Nations 2025, held on July 26 at Deering Oaks Park in Portland.

However, despite an exciting line-up of vendors and performers topped off by a beautiful sunny day, the number of participants was down this year.
