The National Whitetail Deer Education Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting respect and compassion for the whitetail deer and all of nature through innovative educational programs and events. The Foundation’s mission is to inspire lifelong learning, sustained curiosity, and respect for all of nature and the outdoors. One of our main goals is to help youth reconnect with the outdoor world, and to help reverse the trend of declining youth participation in outdoor activities. We achieve this goal through educational programs and community outreach. The NWDEF supports the Deerassic Park Education Center, 170 acres near Salt Fork State Park on US 22 east of Cambridge, Ohio. It is easily accessible and near the intersection of Interstates 70 and 77 in Guernsey County. We are funded through the annual Deerassic Classic Giveaway in August, so be sure to purchase your tickets!

The Bigfoot Lock-In saw the best weather it ever had this weekend! These 20 kiddos had a blast staying overnight here at Deerassic as we canoed and kayaked, carved pumpkins, played bigfoot dodgeball, went on a night hike, had a campfire and s’mores, watched a movie, fished, and played gaga ball as a part of the entire camp’s “Bigfoot Games”! In the end, the boys came out victorious earning more points for their team this year for the second straight year keeping the coveted bigfoot trophy in their name for at least another 365 days. We’ll see you all at Winter Camp! Registration will be announced in the December newsletter.

Learn, explore, & have fun! We hope you enjoyed your field trip! 🚌
