We had two very excited and eager-to-learn groups this week for sessions 1 & 2 of Taste of Deerassic Camp! Our youngest crews of 6-8 year olds kicked off summer camp season with a bang and had a lot of fun doing it! These camps let the younger kids experience camp for the first time here at Deerassic and just get a taste of what is to expect from all our amazing camps! In just two days they experience things like wonders of the whitetail, fishing, creeking, hiking, archery, bb guns, gaga ball, our nature center and welcome center, axe throwing, dodgeball and more! While also getting a camp shirt and water bottle to remember the experience for years to come! We can’t wait to see them all again for years to come!

These workshops will address topics such as:
• Basic food safety principles
• Water bath canner and pressure canner methods
• Principles including canning tomatoes and pickling
• Methods for freezing fruits and vegetables
• Reliable, research-supported resources from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, OSU Extension, and others.
