Designer, letterpress printer, activist, and artist Rick Griffith ( / ) is a recent recipient of a prestigious 2025 AIGA Design () medal for excellence in design—the most distinguished honor in the US for communication design. Griffith has taken an unconventional path that has led him to where he is today.

Join Griffith, with event moderator ramon tejada (.t.gd), for a night of discovery as he presents his Design and Culture presentation at this year’s annual lecture with AIGA Boston (The Professional Association for Design) and ICA/Boston, a partnership that started over 18 years ago to highlight the work of today’s leading designers and thinkers. Following the talk, and for a one-night only at the ICA, tonight’s audience has a chance to acquire a limited edition set of postcards from Griffith’s famed enterprise MATTER, as far as we know the world’s only design studio, manufactory, and revolutionary bookstore.

Hannah Cole () of Sunlight Tax joins us at AIGA Boston to teach creatives everything they need to know about taxes.

What can I deduct? What do I do with my receipts? Do I really need to pay quarterly taxes? What is a Schedule C? How do I deduct my home studio/office? Is my creative work a business or a hobby?

A long-time working artist with a high-level exhibition history, Hannah has a unique vantage point for understanding the financial challenges of freelancers and small creative businesses. Whether you’re a full-time freelancer, or just getting started, this is the tax event for you!
