YWCA Cambridge

YWCA Cambridge Eliminating racism. Empowering women. Right in the heart of Central Square, Cambridge, MA.

YWCA Cambridge is a 501(c)(3) organization co-located in Cambridge, MA, whose mission is “eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.” As a YWCA USA chapter, we accomplish this through direct-service programming and community-based advocacy work. We offer housing assistance for 103 self-identified women in our Tanner Residence; a safe haven for

10 homeless families at our Family Shelter; and a leadership and empowerment program for 8th grade girls in Cambridge. In addition, we provide space for community groups to thrive in the heart of Central Square and serve as a welcoming place for women of all ages to find shelter, support, and opportunities to learn and grow.

Meet Ayesha M. Wilson, MSW, one of five remarkable women being honored at YWCA Cambridge’s 2026 Tribute to Outstanding Women. 🧡

A former YWCA Cambridge Board member, Ayesha has spent her career in service to community—and we’re thrilled to celebrate her leadership, advocacy, and commitment to creating lasting change.

As Ayesha shared:

“Having had the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors of YWCA Cambridge for six years, receiving this tribute is deeply meaningful to me. Service to our community is at the heart of everything I do, and being recognized by an organization so firmly dedicated to equity and justice is both an honor and an inspiration. This tribute motivates me to continue advocating for empowerment and lasting positive change.”

Join us on September 30 as we honor Ayesha alongside four other outstanding women whose leadership has made a lasting impact on our community.
