Eliminating racism. Empowering women. Right in the heart of Central Square, Cambridge, MA.

YWCA Cambridge is a 501(c)(3) organization co-located in Cambridge, MA, whose mission is “eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.” As a YWCA USA chapter, we accomplish this through direct-service programming and community-based advocacy work. We offer housing assistance for 103 self-identified women in our Tanner Residence; a safe haven for 10 homeless families at our Family Shelter; and a leadership and empowerment program for 8th grade girls in Cambridge. In addition, we provide space for community groups to thrive in the heart of Central Square and serve as a welcoming place for women of all ages to find shelter, support, and opportunities to learn and grow.

“There is tremendous power when people get together and they build together.” 💫

For 2026 Tribute honoree Jennifer Fang, that belief shows up both in and out of the office. Through mentorship, collaboration, and community, Jennifer has seen how much creativity and possibility can emerge when people learn from one another, encourage each other, and believe they have the power to create change.

Her words are a reminder that innovation grows through connection.

On September 30, we’re proud to celebrate Jennifer and the many ways she helps cultivate that kind of community.

Making a difference doesn’t always have to be grand.

For 2026 Tribute to Outstanding Women honoree Yvonne Gittens, community impact can begin with something as simple as helping a neighbor, offering a ride, or showing up when someone needs support.

That belief is reflected in Yvonne’s own deep roots in Cambridge, including her long history with Cambridge Community Center and her commitment to strengthening the community she calls home.

That spirit of care, generosity, and everyday leadership is exactly what Tribute is about: recognizing women whose contributions have helped shape Cambridge and strengthen the people around them.

Join us on Wednesday, September 30 as we celebrate Yvonne and this year’s incredible group of honorees at YWCA Cambridge’s 31st Annual Tribute to Outstanding Women.

🧡 Meet 2026 Tribute honoree Jennie Kwo! 🧡

For Jennie Kwo, martial arts is about far more than physical strength. Through her leadership at Boston Classical Soo Bahk Do (a YWCA Cambridge program since 2016!) Jennie has helped build a community rooted in humility, compassion, discipline, and a deep commitment to supporting one another.

In Jennie’s words:

“I am deeply grateful to my instructor and those who have supported me on my Soo Bahk Do journey. Through martial arts, I have learned that empowerment isn’t just about developing physical strength or loud confidence; rather, it is built on humility, compassion, and discipline. My goal is to build a community where all our students stay safe, feel empowered, and fiercely support each other en route to a less divisive and more equitable world.”

Join us on Wednesday, September 30 as we celebrate Jennie and the remarkable women and young people making Cambridge a more equitable community.
