YWCA Cambridge

YWCA Cambridge Eliminating racism. Empowering women. Right in the heart of Central Square, Cambridge, MA.

YWCA Cambridge is a 501(c)(3) organization co-located in Cambridge, MA, whose mission is “eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.” As a YWCA USA chapter, we accomplish this through direct-service programming and community-based advocacy work. We offer housing assistance for 103 self-identified women in our Tanner Residence; a safe haven for

10 homeless families at our Family Shelter; and a leadership and empowerment program for 8th grade girls in Cambridge. In addition, we provide space for community groups to thrive in the heart of Central Square and serve as a welcoming place for women of all ages to find shelter, support, and opportunities to learn and grow.

We’re grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate LGBTQ+ joy, self-expression, and belonging with us.

A special thank you to our friends for stopping by and being part of the day 🧡

Today, YWCA Cambridge is proud to be at Mass NOW’s 28th Annual Greater Boston Area International Women’s Day Breakfast at Simmons University.

This year’s theme, “Reigniting our Movements for Gender Equity,” is a powerful reminder that this work is collective, rooted in action, community care, and a commitment to the people who need us most.

We’re grateful to be in community with feminist organizations from across Greater Boston, and thankful to the morning’s speakers — , Aba Taylor of , Aditi Dholakia of , Dallas Ducar of , and State Rep. Samantha Montaño — for helping inspire and ground this conversation!

We were honored to be one of the hosts for MLK Day of Service this year and to spend the day doing what community care looks like in real time!

This year we:

🧼 Assembled hygiene kits for homeless teens and adults
💌 Wrote Valentine’s Day cards for isolated seniors and neighbors experiencing homelessness
🧣 Made blankets and scarves in advance of the City of Cambridge’s Point-in-Time homelessness count later this month.

Thank you to every volunteer who brought time, tenderness, and (many!) helping hands. If you took pictures from yesterday, post and tag and so we can share and celebrate this community with you!

This , we’re reflecting on gratitude.

At our Thanksgiving Feast, residents wrote what they’re grateful for on decorative leaves. Their messages were filled with hope, strength, and appreciation for the safety and stability they’ve found here at YWCA Cambridge.

These moments remind us why our mission matters.
YWCA Cambridge is on a mission to provide safety, stability, and community and your support helps make that possible.

If you’re able, we invite you to give today and help create more moments like these.
