Guernsey-Noble BPW distributes Equal Pay Day Info & Pay Day Candy Bars

Business and Professional Women (BPW) in Guernsey County, Ohio mobilized on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, to call attention to the wage gap in which women, on average, are paid 78 cents for every dollar paid to men. Even though women make up 51% of the work force, they hold only 17% of the managerial/executive positions. GNBPW members Kathy Smith, Sherry Wilkins, and Betty Duche’ met at the Mancan Office to distribute Equal Pay Day literature, “Pay Day” candy bars, and fliers on the 04/23/26 Administrative Professional Luncheon to local businesses. Local employers have been encouraged to conduct a self-audit to determine if their business has an established wage-setting policy and has consistent and fair pay practice. BPW members in Guernsey and Noble counties organize events and activities not only for Equal Pay Day, but year-round to educate the public about the wage gap. Members support legislation tailored towards working women and assist in educating women on how to negotiate for higher salaries. If you are a manager, professional, salesperson, clerical worker, a woman in a non-traditional job, or a young woman entering the workforce, and you are interested in networking and learning new skills, you should be an active member of the BPW. BPW works to ensure that women’s concerns are heard and acted upon. From education to training and capitalization, BPW provides resources that assist women in achieving success in every business field. Confidence, contacts, and personal skills are integral parts of the BPW experience. The Guernsey-Noble BPW has special programs every year to strategize, network, and work on political and social issues. Fair pay takes real change, and we can make a difference!
The Guernsey-Noble BPW proudly supports the Haven of Hope, which serves women, men and children from Guernsey and Noble Counties. Regular meetings are on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. Membership is open to all women & men. For information about joining the Guernsey-Noble BPW, please contact Vice-President Betty Duche’ at #740-679-2387 email [email protected] or President Chandra Ontko #740-630-7055 email [email protected]
