Representing Indonesia at iFair !🇮🇩
From the traditional dance (Tari Piring) and traditional Indonesian clothing fashion show on the main stage to the mouth-watering scents at our booth. We served up some local favorites: savory Martabak Telur, crispy Pisang Coklat, and crispy Bakwan Jagung. Everyone loved them (and finsihed them within 30 minutes...)! 🌽🍌
We also gave out free keychains to those brave souls to take our Indonesian language challenge. Last week was such a fun and proud moment sharing our culture and flavors. Definitely a day to remember, see you in the next iFair!!

We had such an insightful session with Pak Chatib Basri about "Why Development Becomes Harder: The Political Economy of the Possible" 🇮🇩💵
Some key takeaways from last night:
1. Indonesia's steady growth has failed to generate quality middle-class jobs due to premature deindustrialization and expanding informality.
2. A shrinking middle class and rising expectations are fueling political frustration that makes structural reform increasingly difficult.
3. Without a clear agent of change, Indonesia risks being trapped not just economically, but also politically.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend :D

Mapping Indonesia Through Traditional Dance 🇮🇩🌸
During the “Show Me Why You Love It” session at MIT’s Department of Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP), Amanda Kusumawardani (MCP ’27) shared one of her long-time hobbies: Indonesian traditional dance.
Through stories from her journey learning dances from different regions across Indonesia, Amanda showed how dance can become a way to experience and understand the rich cultural diversity of the archipelago.
The session ended with a fun dance break as Amanda invited fellow DUSP students to try a few Balinese dance movements.
Keren banget, Kak Manda!! 🙌🙌

Introducing the officers of the Association of Indonesian Students at MIT who have been working hard behind the events last semester!! 🦫🇮🇩
Even though we have different paths and backgrounds, our shared roots will always motivate us to create a home away from home 🫶

Cultural Day at the Sloan Fellows MBA program! 🇮🇩✨⠀
Indonesia was represented by Norman () and Zuan () (SFMBA ’26), and of course… we came prepared with FOOD. 😋⠀

From bakwan and tempe mendoan to martabak, teh kotak, keripik, and so many more! Everyone got a taste of home. Always a joy to introduce our flavors to the world! ❤️🍽️

Every story matters and this one made history 🇮🇩⠀

MBA ’26, became the first Indonesian to take the stage at The Yarn, MIT Sloan’s flagship storytelling event.⠀

He shared a story about his grandmother that hit home for so many of us who live far from ours. A beautiful reminder that no matter how far we go, love and memories always travel with us. 🕊️

Fall in New England, friends from home 🇮🇩🦫
Take a peek on our MIT Indonesian family’s fall foliage trip in New Hampshire last week! Between the hikes and late-night talks, we found a piece of home 10,000 miles away 🏡🍂
This trip was exactly what we needed to recharge before the Boston winter hits ❄️☃️
See you again in the fall foliage trip next year!
