Established in 1995 after being mandated by NCAA legislation, MIT's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's mission is to support, communicate, promote, and serve. To aid in meeting the goals set out by the mission statement, the SAAC is divided into three subcommittees:
ATHLETICS PROMOTION
The goal of the athletics promotion committee is to promote varsity athletic events to the MIT community and
beyond. The athletics promotion committee has implemented SAAC highlight games, which are selected matches, one for each team, where DAPER and SAAC make promotional efforts. HEALTH and WELLNESS
The health and wellness committee aims to provide information to student athletes about all aspects of health and wellness like managing sports psychology, prevention of common injuries, healthy eating on a budget, and sleep management. To help inform student athletes, this committee hosts study breaks focusing on various topics, especially informing students about the resources available to them on campus. COMMUNITY SERVICE
The community service committee provides teams with opportunities to serve the community, while also helping teams create connections with various community service projects of their own. Notably every year SAAC hosts a kids day where sixth grade students from the Boston Collegiate Charter School tour the MIT campus and participate in athletics activities. Also every year SAAC hosts an Athletic Support Staff Appreciation Day to acknowledge the work done by the Athletic Support Staff. EXECUTIVE OFFICERS:
