We are thrilled to congratulate our partners at the Education Above All Foundation (EAA) on receiving the Simón Bolívar Order of Democracy, Grand Cross, from the Colombian Congress, for their work to protect education and expand access to learning for vulnerable children.

Kobo is honored to have played a role in this achievement through our ongoing partnership with EAA, including our field research in Colombia and development of the TRACE Data Portal.

As part of the award events, Kobo’s Head of Research Jerome Marston participated in a high-level forum on education and peacebuilding alongside representatives from EAA, the UN Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, the Colombian Ministry of Education, and the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP).

Jerome also had the opportunity to share Kobo's Learning Under Fire report with Member of the House of Representatives Erika Tatiana Sánchez Pinto. Documenting 600+ attacks on schools, students, and teachers, this research is informing justice measures and legislation to criminalize attacks on education in Colombia.
