In Bangladesh, 1 in 5 patients hospitalized for injuries have been in a traffic accident. Between the high costs of health care and the toll on families of losing primary bread-winners, traffic accidents lower the country’s GDP by 2% every year.
Education is a key part of the solution: it is important not only to train responders to save accident victims, but also to teach children to safety navigate roads.

Road crashes disproportionately affect poor families, and cost Bangladesh almost as much as it receives in foreign aid
