Congratulations to all of our Canopy Crew seniors ๐ŸŽ“๏ธ๐ŸŽ‰! Yesterday, we cheered them on at the Class of 2026 CRLS graduation. We're also proud of our Canopy Crew alum who presented their Marine Science internship projects last week ๐ŸŒŠ !

We are so excited to see what they do next and we hope they carry the spirit of environmental stewardship with them wherever they go ๐ŸŒฑ.

During our Earth Week events in April, Green Cambridge piloted our first-ever history walk in the Alewife Brook Reservation. We had a great turnout of participants who joined us to learn how the early history of the Alewife and Cambridge shaped our current landscape.

On Friday Green Cambridge was joined by a great group of volunteers in doing a trash clean up and Biodiversity Walk in the Alewife Brook Reservation, while collecting trash in the Alewife participants learned how to ID native and invasive plants while learning about some of the history of the reservation.

It was a beautiful day out and it was great so see so many community members including some baby ducks enjoying the warm weather, thank you so much to our awesome volunteers for joining us!

This past Wednesday our Canopy Crew team held a tree planting event with the Benjamin Banneker School!

Our teens lead groups of students, teachers and family members in planting 12 trees on Benjamin Banneker new school grounds.

Thank you to all who came out and joined Green Cambridge in the Alewife for Earth Week! Green Cambridge staff hosted daily free educational nature walks in the Alewife Brook Reservation last week to celebrate Earth day and our local environment.

Throughout these 5 days we had the opportunity to connect and learn with so many people from the Cambridge area with a turn out of over 80 community members throughout the week!

We want to give a big shout out to our partner Camping Association for helping organize our E-birding walk where we were able to engage with over 30 participants in educating about our local bird populations.

This past Friday Green Cambridge was joined by an amazing group of Volunteers from Resonant Energy !

With the help of the Resonant team we were able to participate in trash removal in the Alewife Brook Reservation, the work our volunteers do helps create a safer and cleaner space for all community members!

Starting this year Green Cambridge has been holding regular events in the Alewife Brook Reservation.

These events include free educational walks on the ecology and history of the Alewife, Training on how to use citizen science apps like iNaturalist.org and on how to ID common invasive plant species and map them using EWAโ€™s Invasive Flora Patrol.

Highlighted in a recent The Boston Globe Article, you can join any of these events during our upcoming Earth Week programming from April 20th - 24th.

Last Friday Green Cambridge had a great group of volunteers join us for our Biodiversity and iNaturalist Walk in the Alewife Brook Reservation! Thank you so much to everyone who joined us in appreciating and observing our local shared environment!

This free educational walk was guided by Green Cambridge staff highlighting local plant and wildlife, how to identify them, and the ecological importance of the Alewife. Participants were also shown how to upload observations using iNaturalist to participate in the upcoming City Nature Challenge (CNC) Global Bioblitz.

If you missed this event and want to learn more about the CNC, we will be holding another Biodiversity and iNaturalist training on April 20th!

This will be the first day of week long free educational walks in the Alewife to celebrate Earth Week! We will also highlight how to join GC for our own CNC Bioblitz on April 24th for our final day of Earth Week!

Have fun, contribute to science, and explore nature anywhere, from your backyard to urban forests, while connecting with communities worldwide!
