The Math Isn’t Mathing

Too few clinicians. Too much work. Too much time and money spent on billing instead of care.💸

When we don’t train enough primary care clinicians, the workload grows for everyone who remains.

And roughly 40% of practice income can be eaten up by the billing process alone.

That’s not a clinician problem. It’s a system problem.

What does primary care look like right now?

Spoiler: for a lot of people, it’s a whole lot of waiting, searching, and “have you tried urgent care?”🙃

We pulled together real posts from people sharing what navigating primary care actually looks like. Primary care shouldn’t be this hard to access.

What do we mean by “All Americans”?

We get asked this frequently, and our answer is simple: everyone.

“All Americans” means every person who lives in the United States, regardless of race, ethnicity, color, religion, s*x, gender identity, age, ability, country of origin, or documentation status.

Because access to primary care shouldn’t depend on who you are, where you come from, or what your circumstances are.

Every person. Every community. Primary care for all.

What if healthcare could come to you?

Community paramedicine is an innovative model that expands the role of paramedics beyond emergency response. Specially trained paramedics can provide certain healthcare services in patients' homes, help manage chronic conditions, perform follow-up visits after hospital discharge, and connect people with the care and resources they need.🏠❤️‍🩹

The goal isn't to replace primary care, it's to complement it. As communities across the country explore new ways to improve access to care, community paramedicine is one example of how bringing healthcare closer to home can benefit patients and the healthcare system alike.

Emergency departments are designed for emergencies, but too often they're filling another role.😵‍💫

According to Dr. Michael Fine, between 40% and 88% of emergency department visits don't require hospitalization. Many people turn to the ER because they don't have access to a primary care clinician, can't get a timely appointment, or have nowhere else to go.

Strengthening primary care isn't just about improving access; it's about helping people get the right care at the right time, reducing unnecessary healthcare spending, and building healthier communities.🥰

Primary care is one of the smartest investments we can make in our healthcare system.

More than 57% of U.S. adults don’t have access to primary care.🫨

That means millions of people are missing the ongoing relationship with a trusted clinician who can prevent illness, manage chronic conditions, and catch health problems before they become emergencies.

Primary care shouldn’t be a privilege, it should be a guarantee.✅
