These works retrace stories of displacement, resilience, and remembrance—revealing how letters, food, and fragments of memory can reconnect lives torn apart by the largest migration in recorded history.

In Lost Migrations, three animated short films recount the 1947 Partition of India through personal stories from communities normally excluded from the narrative. After the screening, discuss with the filmmakers and learn about their peace-building initiative, Project Dastaan.

Project Dastaan (داستان‎/दास्तान: “Story”) is a peace-building initiative reconnecting individuals displaced during the 1947 Partition with their ancestral villages through Virtual Reality. Dastaan has conducted, filmed, and edited interviews in five languages with Partition survivors across the UK, India, and Pakistan. Their work has been featured in outlets including Time, the BBC, Reuters, and Elle.

Shattered Lands is out for Preorder!

It’s happening. As some of you may know, for the past five years, has been writing a book on India’s many partitions, based on his work with Dastaan.

Preorders make a huge difference. They tell publishers there’s an audience, help get the book into bookstores, and ultimately determine how widely the story reaches.

If every single one of you reading this preordered a copy, Shattered Lands would have an automatic shot at hitting the preorder bestseller lists. That’s how books break through. It’s genuinely the easiest way to turn this into a bestseller, and it would mean the world to us!
