Anthropologists throw themselves into the library of the world, getting lost in each culture’s story. 🌎

Professor Luke Glowacki is a researcher of cultural diversity and professor of anthropology at Boston University . He focuses on the Omo Valley in Ethiopia and studies the various cultural groups that live in the region. He is a strong advocate for learning. To study people and their culture, one must be curious, ask questions, and adjust to new customs or languages. Our students were challenged to think about how we’re all alike and what kinds of questions they’d want to ask someone from another culture. Though we may come from different places, we are united by our humanity. We can find comfort in our shared experiences and have our horizons broadened as we bridge the gaps of the world we live in.

Thank you Professor Glowacki for your dedication to preserving cultural diversity and your willingness to speak with our students!

Find your path with MEFA Pathways! 🧭

Jennifer Bento is the Director of K-12 services at the Massachusetts Education Financing Authority (MEFA). She taught our students how to navigate the college preparation process: finding majors and careers of interest, how to build a good resume, and how to pay for college even when it seems impossible. In addition, our students got to practice budgeting by planning their future lives and looking at their planned expenses vs. their possible incomes. They learned that it's never too early to learn how to spend responsibly.

Thank you Ms. Bento for your incredible and informative workshop!

Pathfinder is back!

Our summer Pathfinder program kicked off this past Monday. Over the course of the next 2 weeks, our students will hear from a variety of professionals to help them discover what they want to do, how they want to get there, and who they want to become. On Monday, they heard from the wonderful .

Lisa Flores is the accomplished Director of Sales and Marketing at Columbus Hospitality Group and helps shapes young minds at Boston University's School of Hospitality. During her session with us, she shared her story of strength and perseverence and taught us that hospitality goes beyond any industry: it is a skill to become a well-respected professional and a better person.

Thank you Ms. Flores and thank you students! We're so excited to see what you guys learn and do next.

What a way to wrap up camp! Yesterday, our Step Up students embarked on an unforgettable adventure to the Museum of Science—filled with wonder, discovery, and wide-eyed excitement. Meanwhile, our Step Forward students capped off their journey with an epic field day, putting both their minds and bodies to the test. A little competition, a lot of laughter, and memories that will last far beyond summer.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

To every student, parent, and supporter who made this joyful month of learning possible—your presence, energy, and trust brought camp to life. It’s been our honor to create a space where students could feel safe, supported, and, most of all, free to have fun and grow together.

As we close this chapter, we carry forward the heartbeat of this year’s theme: “We are strong.” May the strength and sense of belonging built here continue to carry each of our students—not just for now, but throughout their lives.

We are strong. And together, we are stronger.

With love,
EDR

See you next year! 💛

The event was not only a celebration—it was a showcase of the talents and skills our students have developed throughout the camp. From creativity to confidence, their growth was truly inspiring to witness.

Thank you for growing with us, for believing in our journey, and for showing up to witness the remarkable transformation of our students. We’re so grateful for your presence and support!

Yesterday, our Step Forward students lit up the room—literally and figuratively! After a week of hard work designing and building electric circuit instruments, they showcased their creations in an exciting science competition. With creativity, teamwork, and a whole lot of determination, these young scientists proved that learning and fun go hand in hand. It wasn’t just about who “won”—it was about innovation, collaboration, and celebrating every spark of curiosity along the way.

See you on Monday! Have a blessed weekend!

Yesterday, our Step Up students had a blast at field day! We roamed all around campus, challenging ourselves—and each other—physically in another exciting day of friendly competition at EDR. But field day wasn’t just about testing strength and speed; it was about unleashing laughter, building bonds, and creating memories that will echo louder than any victory cheer. A full day of movement, mischief, and moments that reminded us: the best wins are the ones we celebrate together.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Happy Monday! Both our Step Up and Step Forward students kicked off the week with energy and determination! They tackled challenging questions in math and English, proving that growth comes from stepping outside our comfort zones.

It’s not always easy—but we’re pushing through it together, and that’s what makes the journey worthwhile. Let’s keep that momentum going! 💪📚✨

Over the past week, our Step Forward students have been hard at work, engineering their sturdiest bridges for today’s science competition! 🏗️

Amid all the excitement, we never lost sight of the joy that comes from a little friendly competition.

Fueled by curiosity, we sparked our minds with the laws of physics and the power of engineering.

Congratulations to our winners—but always remember: trying is winning! 💡✨
