It is with overwhelming sadness that we share this news. Longtime supporter, friend, and family member of the Grand National Waterfowl Association, Tracie Whiteley, passed away on November 15, 2025.
Tracie was first introduced to the GNWA over 20 years ago through her grandfather, Harold "Sonny" Whiteley. Sonny was an active benefactor, as well as landowner who provided his farm, Oyster Shell Point, for others to hunt on.
Since her introduction to the GNWA, Tracie bartended for the GNWA at least 20 years, worked in the GNWA office for 1-1/2 years and volunteered countless hours ever since. In 2013, Tracie joined the organization as a benefactor. She was inducted onto the GNWA Board in 2016 and served as Vice President in 2016, President in 2017 and 2018. She also served as Treasurer since 2023. Tracie co-chaired the golf tournament for several years. She has also been a member of the Grand National Waterfowl Educational Trust since inducted in 2019. Tracie also took much pride in continuing her grandfather's legacy in being a Landowner for the GNWA hunters.
She was the recipient of the Founder's Award in 2016 (awarded by Founder, Jim Benjamin) and the Dr. Russell P. Smith Award in 2019 (awarded by President, Chelsea Dunnock Riley).
She will be greatly missed by our entire organization, including our Boards, our Executive Committee, our volunteers, our members, her family, and her many many friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone that had the pleasure of meeting Tracie.
