The Turimiquire Foundation is a USA 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Cambridge, MA., supporting community-based service and environmental projects in the Turimiquire watershed of northeastern Venezuela. Here is the simple and humble story of how we started: http://turimiquire.org/how-we-started/ in 1995 in a small backwater of rural Venezuela. We do not have deep pockets, and depend on

the generosity and concern of many people, including friends, family and several Foundations, with donations large and small, to help us realize this work. Over the past 20+ years, an average of 93+ cents of every dollar has gone directly into service delivery to low-income populations.

This yearโ€™s durian harvest comes from a remote valley that is more than 3 walking hours from the nearest road. The trees here grow tall and strong, rooted in one of the most secluded areas of our region. ๐Ÿˆ๐ŸŒฑ

Our campesino partners make the journey into this valley throughout the season, gathering fruit with care and dedication. The remoteness of the land makes the harvest challenging, yet it also reflects the resilience and commitment of the families who steward these trees. ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŒฟ

Although Sucre was spared, history shows that tragedies like this often lead displaced families to nearby regions โ€” just as they did after the 1999 Vargas disaster, when many survivors were relocated to Cumanรก and became communities we still support today.

โœจNow, some affected families are already arriving in Cumanรก, searching for safety and a new place to call home. Our commitment to education, reproductive health, and humanitarian support remains steady, and we stand ready to welcome those who come seeking stability and care.

May was a month of care, education, and essential services across our communities. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’›

At Fundaciรณn ServYr, we supported people seeking contraceptive methods and humanitarian consultations. ๐Ÿค

We led Family Planning workshops in medical and educational spaces, sharing clear, reliable information with students and patients. ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

In Carรบpano, we held an IUD placement day for local women, following an informative session to support confident choices. ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿ’›

And across the Oriente, Santa Rosa, and Virgen del Valle clinics, we supported female and male sterilization surgeries and humanitarian outpatient procedures for patients with limited resources. ๐Ÿฅ๐ŸŒฑ
