FRIENDS OF THE MORSE SCHOOL

The Friends of the Morse School, or FMS, is the school's volunteer group, comprise of parents, caregivers, neighbors, and staff. FMS is dedicated to supporting the educational experience of students, fostering community, and celebrating the diversity of our school. We accomplish this by supporting the teachers, supplementing classroom activities, plan

ning community events, complementing the School Council and it activities, facilitating family communications, and fostering relationships with neighbors and businesses.

Yesterday, FMS kicked off the new school year with one of our favorite annual traditions: a Welcome Back Breakfast to celebrate and thank the incredible teachers and staff who make the Morse School such a special place. 💛💙

Huge THANK YOU to for donating a generous spread of delectable pastries, bagels, and coffee--and for their continued support of the Morse community. 🥐🥯☕

And cheers to all of the FMS volunteers who pitched in to make sure the Morse staff returned to a delicious breakfast and a warm welcome. ⭐

It's the end of an era! The one-and-only Ms. Elaine is retiring.

Ms. Elaine, we'll miss your impeccable comedic timing, your feisty spirit, and--most of all--your big heart. Thank you for taking care of Morse kids and families and for giving so much of yourself to our community.

🍉 Let the summer begin! Toady is the last day of the school year--and what a year it's been!

Before we sign off for the summer, a few last reminders from your friends at FMS:

🔔 Today is a four-hour school day. Kiddos will be dismissed at 12:15 PM.

🎒 Cambridge Public Schools will reopen before Labor Day in the fall:

🔔 Tues, Sept 1: First day of school for students in grades 1 through 12.

🔔 Thurs, Sept 3: First day of school for students in preschool and kindergarten.

📚 Calling all Morse School bookworms!

Here's a friendly reminder to return all books to the Morse School Library before the last day of school (tomorrow!).

If your child has any overdue books, you should have received a message from Morse Librarian Ms. Pennell.

Don't sweat it if you find an overdue library book this summer. The school libraries don't charge fines, and you can return books to any Cambridge Public Library.

Organized to say thank you and good luck to Ms. Elaine, this celebration is open to current and former Morse families. Anyone who knows Ms. Elaine knows that while she'll happily engage with us parents, it is the kids being present that will make her smile widest and feel most loved.

From their first days at Morse to this exciting milestone, they've grown in so many ways—and we're incredibly proud of them. Congratulations, 5th graders!

After the ceremony, the festivities will move to Magazine Beach, where 5th grade families are invited to gather and celebrate together.

It's K-5 Field Day at the Morse! Tuesday, June 16, 9 AM-1 PM, at Lindstrom baseball field on Granite Street.
