The Multicultural Arts Center has made the decision to postpone Yarumi González’s Artist in Residence Showcase. Originally scheduled for September 17th, the new date will be *October 7th* at 7:30pm.
In the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, Yarumi and those close to her have been navigating circumstances that require time, care, and space.
At MAC, supporting an artist means supporting the whole person, not simply the work they bring to our stage. Our Artist in Residence program is rooted in giving artists the freedom and space to explore, create, and respond to the world around them. Sometimes, honoring that mission also means knowing when to make room for life.
We stand with Yarumi, her loved ones, and the people of Venezuela as communities continue to recover and rebuild. We encourage members of our community who are able to do so to learn about and support humanitarian and recovery efforts serving those impacted in Venezuela.
About Yarumi González and the Artist in Residence Showcase:
The Artist in Residence Showcase celebrates the culmination of MAC’s residency program, highlighting works developed through sustained artistic exploration and experimentation. Rather than focusing solely on finished pieces, the showcase invites audiences into the creative process, offering a glimpse into evolving ideas and artistic discovery. During Yarumi González’s residency, they will continue developing a multidisciplinary, autobiographical work exploring identity, migration, and the American Dream through poetic and ritual-inspired storytelling, movement, video, photography, installation, and performance.
